Amanda Seyfried Makes a Striking Statement in Red Valentino for Vogue January 2026

Amanda Seyfried is starting 2026 with exciting news! She’s on the cover of American Vogue’s January issue – her first time appearing on the cover in over a decade.

Vogue featured the story, showcasing both her fashion sense and her rising success as a serious actress.

Photographer Eddie Wrey captured the cover shoot on location in the peaceful countryside of upstate New York. Amanda Seyfried wore a striking red dress from Valentino’s Spring 2026 collection, designed by Alessandro Michele. Stylist Jorden Bickham put together the look, which represents a bold new direction for Seyfried and aligns with her current career path.

Amanda Seyfried has dramatically shifted away from the bubbly, comedic roles that launched her career. Though many fans know her from films like Mean Girls and Mamma Mia!, she’s recently taken on more complex and challenging characters. This change led to an Oscar nomination in 2021 for her work in Mank, and an Emmy win in 2022 for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout on Hulu.

In 2024, she appeared in the Peacock series Long Bright River, portraying a police officer in Philadelphia grappling with addiction and personal tragedy. This performance further established her as an actress who isn’t afraid to take on challenging and impactful roles.

Amanda Seyfried stars in her latest movie, ‘The Housemaid,’ a thriller directed by Paul Feig and adapted from Freida McFadden’s book. Seyfried portrays Nina, a privileged but troubled woman who brings on a young maid, played by Sydney Sweeney.

I was really struck by what the director said about Amanda’s acting. He explained that she takes even small character traits and makes them completely transform her performance. He pointed out that if anyone else played Nina and went too over-the-top, she’d come across as a caricature. But Amanda manages to make her feel so real and complex – a fully fleshed-out person, not just a simple sketch.

Seyfried shared that she really loved playing her character and even felt sympathy for her co-stars, Sydney Sweeney and Brandon Sklenar. She said, “I actually felt bad for Sydney and Brandon.”

She explained her enjoyment stemmed from being able to participate when others couldn’t, noting that while Sydney had a small moment at the end, she felt she had the opportunity to fully enjoy the experience throughout. She described the project as incredibly special and praised the director, Feig, for, like another colleague named Mona, recognizing and celebrating the humor in everyday life. Vogue reports that a follow-up film is planned and should start production later this year.
