Amanda Seyfried Couldn’t Imagine Playing Cop in Long Bright River After Doing Comedy Roles for Years: ‘There Are Certain Limits…’

In the unexpected turn of events, Amanda Seyfried found herself presented with a substantial part in “Long Bright River.” Noteworthy for her role as a police officer in the Peacock crime drama, Seyfried initially didn’t anticipate she would be capable of delivering justice to such serious roles given her extensive background in comedy.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on my own journey in the entertainment industry, I acknowledge the boundaries I’ve unintentionally set for myself, which may have contributed to falling into certain stereotypes. In speaking with Deadline, I admitted that these self-imposed restrictions were not always beneficial and may have hindered my growth as an actor.

Following her appearances in successful comedies such as Mean Girls, Mamma Mia!, and Jennifer’s Body, she emerged as a prominent figure in Hollywood. However, she confessed that the entertainment industry had preconceived notions about her, leading her to believe she was incapable of playing authoritative roles.

As a devoted follower of my craft, I came to understand my self-image as an actress and made the conscious decision to reshape it. “I believe I was blind to it before, but now I feel empowered to take on any role,” I expressed.

Consequently, she found the character of Mickey Fitzpatrick, portrayed by Seyfriend, to be an intriguing part to enact. The plot revolves around Fitzpatrick, a Philadelphia police officer who is both the lead investigator in a triple homicide and is concurrently searching for her drug-addicted sister.

In harmony with Seyfriend’s emotions, showrunner Nikki Toscano asserted that Hollywood often limits actors and creators within strict boundaries. “It’s crucial for us to search for chances to shatter these confines,” she emphasized.

As an ardent admirer of Liz Moore’s renowned novel, I can’t help but share my excitement about a new series that’s been brought to life by the brilliant mind behind The Offer showrunner, Toscano. Alongside the iconic Mean Girls actress, this production boasts the talent of Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, and John Doman. I simply can’t wait to see what they bring to this captivating story!

As soon as I learned about it, I couldn’t wait any longer – I rushed to download the audiobook and devoured it in less than two days! The actress confessed this recently. While going through the scripts, I was simply amazed by how skillfully the writers brought the essential events from the book to life, creating a captivating three-dimensional narrative. As an ardent fan, I couldn’t help but be blown away by their work!

Long Bright River is available to stream on Peacock and Prime Video.
