All the Anime Coming Out in January 2026

As a huge anime fan, I’m really excited about the Winter 2026 season! It looks like there’s a ton of new stuff coming out, alongside some sequels to shows I already love. Whether you’re into dark fantasy, rom-coms, or fast-paced sports anime, there’s something for everyone across all the streaming services. We’re seeing continuations of popular series and brand new adaptations of lesser-known stories, which is awesome. I’ve put together a guide covering all the major premieres happening this January, so you won’t miss a thing!

‘Fate/strange Fake’ (2024)

A-1 Pictures is producing this series, which premieres on January 3, 2026. Directed by Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume, the story is set in the United States and features a unique take on the Holy Grail War. It follows the battles between Masters and their Servants, filled with strange occurrences and surprising heroes. This new project is based on a light novel by Ryōgo Narita and expands the popular ‘Fate’ universe.

‘Sentenced to Be a Hero’ (2026)

The new anime series, ‘Sentenced to Be a Hero,’ will debut on January 3, 2026. ‘Hana-Kimi’ (2026)

I’m so excited for the new anime coming out on January 4, 2026! It’s based on ‘Hanazakari no Kimitachi e,’ which is a classic manga I absolutely love. Signal.MD is doing the animation, and Natsuki Takemura is directing. The story is about a girl who pretends to be a boy just to go to an all-boys school and get closer to the guy she admires. It’s got all the fun, romantic comedy vibes that made the original so popular with fans like me, and I can’t wait to see it all over again!

‘Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy’ (2026)

The anime series ‘Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy’ will premiere on January 4, 2026. Pyuta Konno is directing the show at Studio Hōkiboshi. It’s a story about love and self-discovery, presented in a distinctive way. As a Studio Hōkiboshi production, it’s likely to have a similar feel to their other heartfelt, seasonal dramas, and will focus on showing the deep emotions of its characters through its visuals.

‘Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None’ (2026)

The anime series ‘Journal with Witch’ (known as ‘Ikoku Nikki’ in Japan) will premiere on January 4, 2026. ‘Tune In to the Midnight Heart’ (2026)

The anime series ‘Tune In to the Midnight Heart’ will premiere on January 6, 2026, directed by Masayuki Takahashi at Gekkou. From what I’ve seen, Sunrise and director Yōichi Fujita are really leaning into the iconic armored warrior look that made the original so special. Okay, so I just heard about this new anime coming out – ‘The Holy Grail of Eris’ – and it sounds amazing. It’s hitting screens on January 8, 2026, and it’s directed by Morita at Ashi Productions. Basically, it’s about this unassuming noblewoman who ends up striking a deal with the ghost of a really notorious, previously executed lady. Together, they team up to figure out what really happened to the ghost and unravel all the secrets and power plays happening within the royal court. It’s being described as a historical mystery-thriller, and apparently, a big focus is on the political stuff and the fascinating relationship that develops between these two women. I’m already hooked!

‘The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife’ (2026)

Scheduled to premiere on January 8, 2026, the anime series ‘The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife’ is directed by Mitsuho Seta as part of Project No.9. The story centers on a tender romance between an invisible man and a blind woman who sees beyond his condition. I’m so excited for the new ‘High School! Kimengumi’ series! It’s a fresh take on the original comedy, and it’s coming out on January 9, 2026. Kazuaki Seki is directing at Seven, and it’s all about this hilarious group of high school students – the Kimengumi – who are known for being totally goofy and having funny faces. They’ve kept the classic slapstick comedy, but updated it with a modern look and feel. It’s basically a look at the ridiculously funny everyday lives of these club members as they try to get through school and deal with awkward social situations. I can’t wait!

‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ (2020–)

The first part of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Season 3, created by MAPPA, will premiere on January 9, 2026. Directed by Shōta Goshozono, this season will adapt the popular Culling Game arc from the manga. The story centers on Yuji Itadori and his friends, who are unwillingly entered into a deadly tournament created by the villain Kenjaku. Fans can expect the same impressive action and terrifying supernatural elements that have made the series a hit around the world.

‘ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!’ (2026)

The new dark fantasy series, ‘Roll Over and Die,’ will debut on January 9, 2026, directed by Nobuharu Kamanaka at A.C.G.T. The story blends elements of classic folklore with the concerns and fears of modern digital life.

‘Does It Count If You Lose Your Innocence to an Android? (2026)

Coming out on January 10, 2026, this series – produced by Nyan Pollution-ω- and directed by Neko B – tells the story of someone who buys a very realistic android companion. The show dives into the complex ethical and emotional questions that arise when people form relationships with artificial intelligence, mixing humor and romance with thought-provoking science fiction about the future of connection.

‘Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord’ (2026)

This new series launches on January 10, 2026, and is created by NAZ with direction from Takayuki Kuriyama and Tetsuya Tatamitani. It tells the story of a young lord who unexpectedly receives a ruined, monster-infested territory – a seemingly hopeless situation. ‘Fire Force’ (2019–)

The final episodes of ‘Fire Force’ season 3 will premiere on January 10, 2026. ‘Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing’ (2026)

The anime ‘Hell Mode’ will premiere on January 10, 2026, at Yokohama Animation Laboratory, with Masato Tamagawa as director. The second season of ‘Hell’s Paradise’ will premiere on January 11, 2026, animated by MAPPA and directed by Kaori Makita. The story follows Gabimaru and Sagiri as they continue their dangerous quest for the Elixir of Life on a mysterious island. With more convicts and executioners landing on the island, the fight to stay alive intensifies. ‘Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix-‘ (2026)

The anime ‘Hikuidori’ is set to premiere on January 11, 2026, and will be produced by SynergySP. Hajime Kamegaki and Hiroshi Yasumi, both well-known directors, are leading the project. Though the story is currently being kept secret, it’s expected to be a dramatic series with a focus on developing its characters. ‘Scum of the Brave’ (2026)
