Science fiction fans have plenty of exciting new movies and shows to choose from this week, both in theaters and online. The lineup features everything from action-packed thrillers and fun animated adventures to stories about incredible creatures and complex technology. There’s something for everyone, and you can start watching now through the end of the week!
‘The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball’ (2025)

On December 22, 2025, a new version of ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ premiered on Hulu, building on the story of the original show. This new series uses different animation styles and adds science fiction and philosophical ideas. It still follows the everyday adventures of the Watterson family in their quirky town, where Gumball and Darwin often find themselves in situations that bend the rules of reality with strange and futuristic events.
‘Made in Korea’ (2025)

As a huge fan of historical dramas, I’m really excited about ‘Made in Korea’ coming to Hulu on December 24th! It’s written by the talented Park Eun gyo and Park Joon suk, and directed by Woo Min ho. What’s got me most intrigued is the cast – Hyun Bin and Jung Woo sung are leading the ensemble! From what I understand, it’s set in the 1970s and explores a really turbulent time in Korean history, focusing on how the country and its people were changing politically and socially. It sounds like a compelling story about navigating a shifting world.
‘Anaconda’ (2025)

The classic monster movie ‘Anaconda’ is getting a new release in theaters on December 25, 2025. This updated version features a team of scientists facing off against a larger, genetically modified snake. The film uses today’s special effects and robotic technology to create a truly terrifying creature for a new generation. Expect plenty of intense action as the characters fight for survival against a smart and relentless predator.
‘Nightsleeper’ (2024)

The thriller ‘Nightsleeper’ premieres on BritBox on December 26, 2025. It’s about a train hijacking caused by a sophisticated cyberattack on the railway system. The story follows the passengers as they work together to stop the train before it reaches a city, blending classic suspense with modern anxieties about technology and security.
‘The Copenhagen Test’ (2025)

Simu Liu stars in ‘The Copenhagen Test,’ a new thriller premiering on Peacock on December 26th. The series centers around international secrets and scientific breakthroughs, challenging its characters with difficult choices that could have worldwide consequences. It’s a fast-paced, suspenseful addition to Peacock’s holiday lineup.
