All Fishing Contest Locations In Where Winds Meet

I think we can all agree that fishing in video games is just…fun! It feels like almost every game I play has some kind of fishing minigame, and I’m totally okay with that. Luckily, Where Winds Meet keeps that tradition going – there’s a whole fishing system in the game, and I can’t wait to try it out!

Fishing in this game isn’t like typical relaxing fishing experiences. Instead of casually angling, you’ll mostly participate in fishing contests and challenges. The actual fishing mechanics, however, might feel similar to other fishing minigames you’ve encountered.

Can You Fish Anywhere?

Fishing Contests

To begin fishing, you’ll need a fishing rod, which you can get from Chu Shuiyang. They’ll also tell you about fishing contests, a main way to compete with other players. You can enter these contests repeatedly, but the goals and the fish you catch will always be the same.

Once you get the map for a region, you’ll be able to see other fishers you can compete against marked on the world map, so explore everywhere to find them.

Free Fishing

You can also enjoy more relaxed fishing, but it’s only available at specific fishing spots. The fishing minigame works the same way, but there’s no rush – you can take your time and don’t need to worry about catching anything in particular. Just remember to bring lots of bait!

Tai Chi

You can also fish in deep water using a unique method. By wading far enough into the water and performing a special technique, you’ll cause fish to leap into the air, ready to be caught. It’s a quick way to get a lot of fish, but you won’t be able to select specific types.

How To Play The Fishing Minigame

Let’s talk about real, classic fishing – it’s more involved than simply shooting fish. Once you find your first fishing competition, you’ll receive a fishing rod, opening up even more opportunities to fish. Whether you’re competing or fishing on your own, the process is surprisingly straightforward.

When you fish in tournaments, you’ll be given specific instructions about which fish to catch and what bait they prefer. In these contests, you’ll only succeed if you use the right bait. Free fishing offers more variety, making it a little harder to get the fish you want, but still possible. Always make sure you have your bait equipped before you start fishing.

Before you cast your line, it’s important to build up power. The closer you get the line to fully extending the rod, the farther it will cast, and the better your chances of catching a fish.

Once you’ve cast your line, give it a little twitch to get the fish’s attention. Then, just wait – they’ll start biting soon! Landing a fish is when things really get tricky, though.

Okay, so here’s how it works: a cool arc appears with a fish swimming inside. You basically have to follow that fish as it moves around the arc, and a circle will slowly fill up as you do. Once the circle’s full, you’ve reeled it in! It’s pretty simple. Now, bigger, stronger fish are a bit trickier – they zip around faster and take longer to catch. But the main idea is the same. Just keep an eye on the meter and don’t let it run out completely, or the fish will escape and you’ll lose your bait!

As you travel, you can buy improved fishing rods from shops. These shops also frequently carry the bait you’ll need for fishing.

Fishing Contest Locations

You can only fish in specific spots (except for Tai Chi fishing), so you’ll need to locate them first. Luckily, fishing contest locations are marked on the map, although they can be hard to find amongst all the other icons. Here’s a list of all the fishing spots to help you out.

As we discover even more fishing contest locations, we’ll include them below.

Qinghe

Okay, so I’m a huge fan of the fishing contests in Qinghe region, and there are at least nine of them! I’ve been trying to keep track of where they all are, and here’s what I’ve found…
