A promotional poster for the movie “Predator: Badlands” has been found online, hinting strongly that the speculated Aliens vs Predator cinematic universe may indeed be underway.
The poster showcases Elle Fanning’s character, who goes by Elle-47, a Weyland-Yutani synthetic, being borne by a fully-armored Predator sporting a gleaming red edge – likely Dek, the main Yautja warrior in the imminent movie.
It’s noteworthy that Elle-47’s design bears a striking resemblance to the synthetic characters from the Alien franchise, with notable similarities to figures such as Ash and Bishop.
Worth a mention is that the working title for Predator: Badlands happened to be “Backpack.”

Weyland-Yutani, Again
Fanning’s character having both connections with Weyland-Yutani and assistance from a Predator suggests that the Alien and Predator franchises are set to clash, which aligns with hints given by insiders about their impending convergence.
According to previous rumors, there’s more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye.
In the trailer, there are subtle indications – the Weyland-Yutani logo can be seen within the eyes of the robotic woman. Moreover, according to reliable sources, this marks a significant conclusion. Director Dan Trachtenberg is reportedly developing a world where we might see the Alien vs Predator saga unfold, as suggested by YouTuber Tachyon Pulse.
This poster may be our first visual confirmation of that crossover foundation being laid.
Visual Echoes of Aliens
In the realm of cinematic heroes, Elle-47’s armored physique, tactical equipment, and battle readiness stir within me echoes of Ripley’s synthetic companions from the films “Aliens” and “Alien: Resurrection.
The weapon she’s wielding – a futuristic submachine gun – harmoniously blends with the appearance of the Colonial Marines, implying that the film Badlands is drawing more intensely on the genetic makeup of the Alien universe compared to past Predator installments.
The Dek Dynamic
In the movie “Badlands”, the creature known as Predator Dek stands out from other jungle beasts. He’s more than just a monster; he’s the central figure of our story, serving neither as a conventional hero nor a villain. As Tachyon Pulse puts it, “Predator is the hero, but in an unconventional way. Dek pursues and is pursued. This time, we witness a shift in roles.
The poster appears to showcase a scene where Dek appears to be aiding or safeguarding Elle-47, hinting at an unusual bond between the Predator and the synthetic character, which hasn’t been delved into in earlier Predator movies. This new dynamic carries significant potential for Alien vs. Predator (AVP) storylines.
Connecting to Alien: Earth
In the FX show “Alien: Earth”, we’re introduced to a novel synthetic character named Wendy. She has a human-like consciousness and becomes a fierce combatant against alien invasions, following a Weyland-Yutani spaceship crashing into her city. Her mission involves retrieving and confining several alien species, one of which is designated as Species 37, a mutated version that could potentially be connected to Engineer biological weapons.
There seems to be a strong possibility that Elle-47’s role in the movie “Badlands” might tie into the experiments hinted at in “Alien: Earth”. Could it be that Dek is pursuing one of these newly discovered species? Might we witness similar technology, specimens, or shared objectives between the two missions?
The Bigger Picture
Under Dan Trachtenberg’s direction for Badlands, and Fede Álvarez taking over the Alien series post-Romulus, industry insiders suggest this could be part of a carefully planned strategy. In fact, Álvarez himself has hinted at it: “The best AVP (Alien vs. Predator) will be the one you don’t realize is AVP until the other character appears… You might think it’s a Predator film, but then – holy moly, it’s a Xenomorph!
It’s possible that events have already started unfolding, as suggested by Trachtengberg’s recent revelation following the publication of “Predator: Killer of Killers.
“Both Killer of Killers and Badlands make that universe SO MUCH bigger,” he said.
