Alien: Earth Renewed for Season 2

FX is sticking with Alien: Earth.

According to Variety, the show has been officially renewed for a second season. Creator Noah Hawley has also signed a major new agreement with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, reportedly worth nine figures, securing his position as a key creative force at Disney.

Production for Season 2 will begin in London in 2026. The first season was filmed in Thailand and premiered in August. FX’s John Landgraf commended Noah Hawley’s work and announced the network is eager to move forward with the story.

Hawley Expands His Disney Footprint

Noah Hawley sees the broadened deal as a chance to bring fresh ideas to all of Disney’s television channels. He noted that FX’s support, starting with the show Fargo, allowed him to experiment and take chances creatively. Hawley also confirmed he’s still developing the story for Season 2 of Alien: Earth.

Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios, praised Graham Yost as a uniquely talented TV creator and expressed the studio’s enthusiasm for expanding his projects beyond FX.

Cast and Season 1 Setup

The first season featured a talented cast including Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

The first season centers on a young woman, portrayed by Sydney Chandler, and a team of soldiers who investigate a dangerous situation. They discover a mysterious crashed ship on Earth, a premise that feels right at home in the world of Alien.

Hawley’s FX Legacy

Noah Hawley began his successful run with FX in 2014 with the critically acclaimed series Fargo, which earned him numerous Emmy and Golden Globe awards over five seasons. He further established his unique creative voice with the FX-Marvel show Legion. Alien: Earth continues his strong relationship with FX, and adds to the growing list of projects he’s currently developing with Disney.
