Alan Tudyk Reportedly Cast in Secret SUPERMAN Role

As a long-time fan of Alan Tudyk‘s versatile talent, I can’t help but be thrilled about his addition to the cast of James Gunn’s Superman. From Firefly to Resident Alien, and from voicing K2SO in Rogue One to Heihei in Moana, Tudyk has left an indelible mark on various genres.

James Gunn’s “Superman” finished its main filming in July, but the complete cast isn’t fully revealed yet. According to Deadline, Alan Tudyk, a well-known figure in sci-fi movies and TV shows, has joined the cast, taking on a mystery role. Tudyk and Gunn have a history together, with Gunn appearing in Tudyk’s web series “Con Man.” He also voices Doctor Phosphorus for Gunn in the animated series “Creature Commandos” and plays Clayface in the “Harley Quinn” series, as well as Mr. Nobody in “Doom Patrol.” At this point, we don’t know much about Tudyk’s secret role in “Superman,” but given their past collaborations, it’s bound to be interesting!

Known for his screen presence in shows like Firefly and Resident Alien, as well as his voice acting abilities, Alan Tudyk has made a name for himself. He’s lent his vocal talents to animated series such as The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, not just for DC characters, but also for various roles in numerous other projects. One of his most recognized voice roles is that of K2SO, the droid, in Rogue One, which he will reprise in Andor season two. There’s speculation that he might be playing another synthetic character, possibly Brainiac, the android villain, in Superman.

Despite the fact that Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor seems to be the primary antagonist in the movie “Superman”, it’s likely that James Gunn has a different plan in mind, given his deep knowledge of comics. Traditionally portraying Luthor as the sole villain in Superman films feels outdated. Superman’s second most formidable foe from the comics, the artificial intelligence known as Brainiac, has yet to make an appearance on the big screen. It’s long overdue for a Superman film to introduce this iconic character. We believe Alan Tudyk would excel in bringing Brainiac to life in “Superman”.

Indeed, Gunn’s approach in DCU involves using the same actors across animation and live-action roles. Consequently, it’s possible that Tudyk could be portraying his character from Creature Commandos in a live-action setting. We’ll get the confirmation when Superman releases to theaters on July 11, 2025.
