Alan Bergman Calls ‘Agatha All Along’ a Success, Boosting Disney’s Connection with Female Marvel Fans

As a long-time Marvel fan who’s seen my fair share of blockbusters, I must say that ‘Agatha All Along’ has truly stolen my heart! The show’s focus on magic and lesser-known characters was a refreshing twist, and it proved beyond doubt that diversity and inclusion can only enrich our beloved MCU.

‘Agatha All Along’ is the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production, distinguishing itself with a focus on magical elements and lesser-known characters.

Despite anticipation for potential criticism due to its emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, the show managed to avoid such responses. It demonstrated that when the narrative itself is compelling, such concerns become irrelevant.

‘Agatha All Along’ garnered impressive reviews, attracted substantial audiences, and stood out as the most cost-effective Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production to date. This was achieved through the smart use of real sets and effects. Additionally, it boasted the highest viewer retention rate among all MCU shows, indicating a promising future for the series.

It’s commonly acknowledged that the show has been successful, and recently, Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, mentioned that it also garnered a significant number of female viewers. Unlike most Marvel films, which have primarily appealed to men, ‘Agatha’ managed to engage a larger female audience.

Agatha proved to be a significant triumph for us, broadening the demographic of viewers for our Marvel series. Historically, these films have attracted more male than female audiences, but with Agatha, we had the chance to cater more to the female viewership.

The debut of the show was incredibly successful, garnering a global audience of 9.3 million viewers in its initial week. It held the title of Disney+’s most-watched program during that timeframe. Furthermore, it entered the top 10 rankings in an impressive 56 countries and boasted the highest viewer retention rate among all Marvel series. The show maintained strong viewership throughout, with millions of minutes watched, and its finale attracted 3.9 million views on its first day alone.

Additionally, it managed to appear on the Nielsen Top 10 lists not once, but twice – an accomplishment that surpassed ‘The Penguin’ show’s success in doing so.
