As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in media and broadcast journalism, I can deeply empathize with Hoda Kotb’s decision to prioritize her family over her career at the Today Show. Having raised my own children while working in this fast-paced industry, I wholeheartedly understand the importance of balancing work and personal life, especially when young kids are involved.
Al Roker wishes the best to his co-host, Hoda Kotb, who took an exit from the Today Show. In the previous week, Kotb made an emotional announcement of leaving the talk show to give priority to her family and kids.
At the Food & Wine Classic Charleston, the 70-year-old journalist shared with People Magazine his joy for Kotb, as she embarks on a fresh, personal chapter in her life.
In simple terms, Al Roker shared with the entertainment outlet that he will certainly miss his co-worker, but he’s overjoyed for her because he can’t help but feel happiness for her instead of sadness about her departure.
He further added, “Here’s the thing, I would feel much worse if she was leaving, but she’s just doing something else within our NBC News family.”
On September 26, Kotb penned a letter to NBC announcing her departure from the show. In the letter, she expressed, “At this moment, my heart is filled with various emotions.
She also conveyed, “I’m confident I’m choosing correctly, but it’s a difficult choice indeed. You all are the ones making it hard. Sometimes, two things can be correct simultaneously, and that’s exactly how I feel right now. I care for you deeply, and sadly, it’s now time for me to step away from this production.
The celebrity who’s known for TV roles shared that her venture into broadcast journalism has been incredibly successful, yet it’s now time for a change. She expressed mixed feelings – sadness at departing from the show and eagerness towards the future opportunities awaiting her.
Demonstrating understanding towards Hoda’s choice, Al Roker shared that when his children were young, he prioritized a job that permitted him time for family. Similarly, Kotb has been working for quite some time even though her kids were too young at the start; thus, he expresses his approval of the TV show host. He also added, “I can completely relate to why she made this decision.
On her final Today show appearance, Kotb reminisced about the encouragement Al Roker offered her after she was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2007.
Though the TV star left the show, she claimed to be a part of the NBC family for a long time ahead.
