The upcoming *Knight Rider* movie, being made by the team behind *Cobra Kai*, might feature a cameo from *Airwolf*.
Airwolf in the Script
Fans of classic 80s action shows, rejoice! The Tachyon Pulse podcast reports that Universal is considering including the iconic helicopter *Airwolf* in the new *Knight Rider* movie. While it might not be a major part, *Airwolf* could make a quick appearance or simply be mentioned in the film.
The YouTuber says they’ve heard that the helicopter Airwolf will appear in the film. It might not be a major role-possibly just a brief cameo or even a quick mention-but sources are telling them the filmmakers are keen to include it.
Although plans aren’t confirmed, the inclusion of *Airwolf* suggests Universal is seriously considering creating a connected universe featuring its popular action shows from the 1980s.
Building a Shared Universe
The podcast reports that Universal is thinking about reviving several classic TV shows, including *Knight Rider*, *Airwolf*, and *The Six Billion Dollar Man*. They might also consider *Street Hawk*, another show featuring motorcycles.
The idea is to begin with a movie based on *Knight Rider* and then develop other related projects, with the ultimate goal of bringing them all together in a combined storyline.
Possible Approaches
There’s a lot of discussion about what the new *Knight Rider* will be like. Some ideas include a completely updated version with cutting-edge technology, a story that picks up where the original left off and brings KITT into the present day, or a remake that stays true to the 1982 series, complete with the iconic Pontiac Firebird.
The studio’s direction appears to lean toward a retelling of the original concept.
The YouTuber had previously suggested that Tesla, under Elon Musk, could become like the iconic KITT car from the television show, or potentially inspire a futuristic electric Dodge Charger.
Release info
The Knight Rider movie has no release date as of yet.
The team behind the popular show *Cobra Kai* is working on a *Knight Rider* movie. Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are in negotiations to both write and direct the film, which will be based on the 1980s TV series featuring Michael Knight and his intelligent, talking car, KITT.
“Get ready!” Hurwitz announced on Instagram. “Knight Rider is being rebooted, and I’m thrilled to work on another classic from the ‘80s. I’m especially happy to be collaborating with the talented teams at 87 North and Spyglass, and to be working with Universal Pictures again!”
