AI-Generated Andy Cohen Series Coming to Bravo on Peacock

Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, is adding features specifically for mobile viewers. These updates include vertical videos and interactive content, all aimed at keeping people more entertained and engaged while watching on their phones.

Bravo is launching a new feature called “Your Bravoverse” designed to be a central place for fans to keep up with everything happening across their favorite shows, like The Real Housewives. A key part of this is an AI version of Andy Cohen that will explain storylines, past drama, and current events. Users will be introduced to the AI through a video from the real Andy, and any time the AI speaks, it will be clearly identified as such.

Peacock’s John Jelley explained that they call this technology ‘generative AI’ to avoid confusion about whether the content is created by a real person. He clarified that it’s best understood as a personalized version of the original content, rather than something entirely new. Essentially, it’s still ‘Andy,’ but tailored using AI.

Peacock is using AI, nicknamed Andy, to help viewers easily find content they’ll enjoy. According to Jelley, the goal is to generate many different versions of content. While a person could create some variations, AI allows Peacock to produce a large amount of relevant content on a consistent, daily and weekly basis.

Peacock is growing its selection of sports and gaming content. Basketball fans can now enjoy live NBA games with a unique vertical video format and AI technology that controls the camera angles, starting with the NBA Courtside Live feature. The platform plans to add even more sports in the future, taking viewer feedback into account.

Peacock is also investing heavily in gaming. Subscribers will be able to play mobile games directly within the app, without needing to download anything extra. Some of the games launching include playable versions of Jeopardy! and a new Law & Order game called Law & Order: Clue Hunter. Another game, Public Eye, is coming this summer. All of these games are being developed by Wolf Games, a company founded by Elliot Wolf, the son of the original Law & Order creator, Dick Wolf.

Peacock currently has about 44 million U.S. subscribers, which is fewer than streaming services like Hulu and Paramount+. However, NBCUniversal isn’t prioritizing simply gaining more subscribers. According to Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, the company is more interested in how much time people spend watching content. He says, “Everyone looks at subscriber numbers, but we’re really focused on viewing time – that’s where the real competition will be.”

Strauss explained that the new features are designed to deeply satisfy fans, become the central hub for their passion, and keep them actively involved with all of their content.

I’m so excited about the new updates rolling out! They’re starting on mobile, which is great because that’s how I watch most of my shows. Eventually, they’ll be on the Peacock TV app too. Basically, Peacock is trying to make the experience way better for people like me – especially if you’re into Bravo, sports, or games. They want it to be more fun, interactive, and tailored to what you like!
