With AI agents generating lots of buzz, venture firm Multicoin Capital has shared their forecasts for the coming year. They believe that 2025 will mark a critical turning point for artificial intelligence.
According to a report named “Frontier Ideas For 2025,” published by Multicoin Capital on January 7, they’ve outlined the major trends worth keeping an eye on for the year 2025.
The Rise of Zero-Employee Companies
In the near future by 2025, as advanced AI models can perform tasks such as thinking, strategizing, carrying out actions, and self-correcting without human intervention, Multicoin Capital anticipates that businesses run entirely by machines (referred to as ‘zero-employee’ companies) could become a growing trend.
Zero-employee companies function based on the concept of requiring little to no direct human supervision. With sophisticated tools such as OpenAI’s o3 and other advanced AI systems capable of independent, chain-of-thought reasoning, AI agents are demonstrating impressive capabilities in executing intricate tasks autonomously.
For a company with no employees but relying on AI, it’s crucial to have human oversight since AI may err and surpass its limits. As AI technology advances, I anticipate the need for human guidance will diminish as AI becomes more adept at self-correction and expanding its understanding context.
He emphasized that Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) will serve as essential facilitators for businesses operating without traditional employees, due to their ability to manage operations. Furthermore, he highlighted that crypto capital markets will significantly contribute to financing these ventures and supplying the required funds.
Furthermore, the forecasts made by Multicoin Capital align with Sam Altman’s views, suggesting that AI agents could join the workforce as early as 2025. Notably, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also considers AI agents to be a significant advancement in the progression of the workforce.
AI Agents to Transform Crypto Trading in 2025?
A potential development that could shape 2025 is the swift advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) in cryptocurrency trading. Last year, AI was mainly employed for content creation and managing social media interactions to draw interest.
Yet, with the ongoing advancements in cryptocurrency and decentralized finance, AI agents are expected to take on increasingly focused roles.
Keep an eye out for the intriguing advancement anticipated in 2025: the appearance of “Alpha Scouts.” These artificial intelligence entities function specifically to locate and seize profitable trading possibilities, or what we refer to as “alpha.
In 2025, as an increasing number of coins are introduced into the market, traditional exchanges may find it challenging to cope due to their slow approval procedures. Consequently, traders might shift towards using decentralized exchanges instead for faster and more seamless transactions.
Looking forward, Decentralized Exchanges (DEXes) are expected to take a larger portion of the market from Centralized Exchanges (CEXes) in the coming year. With an increasing number of tokens and DEX activity, active traders will require advanced resources for detecting new tokens, evaluating sentiment, and analyzing on-chain data, as suggested by Multicoin Capital analyst Vishal Kankani.
In this type of situation, Alpha hunter AI agents are likely to become more notable. They’ll comb through Decentralized Exchanges (DEXes) to assess and minimize threats like “rug pulls,” all while conducting trades independently.
