At Star Wars Celebration Japan, Lucasfilm hinted about upcoming details for season 2 of “Ahsoka,” revealing that Hayden Christensen is set to reappear, Admiral Ackbar will make an appearance, and a sneak peek at Rory McCann as Baylan Skol was unveiled.

Admiral Ackbar won’t be trapped this time

According to creator Dave Filoni, he’s facing off directly with Thrawn. He tried hard not to include the line – “It’s a trap!” because, as he humorously put it, “I couldn’t do that; it would be so cliché.” After all, this character shouldn’t keep falling into traps. You’d think he’d see it coming this time, Filoni quipped.

First look at Rory McCann as Baylan Skol

Rory McCann, known for Game of Thrones, replaces Ray Stevenson, who recently passed away in 2023.

Filoni stated that Season 2 presented an expected hurdle due to the departure of Ray. Having worked with him on voice acting, it was tough for me to contemplate moving forward initially. However, I have a fantastic support system in Jon and Rosario, which helped me push through.

Filoni explained that he chose to carry on using the character alongside Ray’s family, saying, “I managed to find my way in – Ray was always in my thoughts. I’m thankful for all our discussions about Baylan. This helped me figure out the right path, although it took some time to reach it. Now, I’m certain that Ray would approve of the direction we’ve taken.

Filoni explained, “Baylan’s character serves as a counterpart to Ahsoka in all aspects. Just as light has its dark counterpart, Baylan symbolizes a distinct path for a Jedi. You, too, left the (Jedi) order, and so did he. This is a connection that needs to be explored further.

Release info

As for now, we don’t have a specific release date for Season 2 of Ahsoka. However, Filoni has confirmed that filming will start soon. Moreover, Dawson mentioned that she hasn’t gone through all the scripts yet because Filoni is continually re-writing them.
