Okay, so I’m really excited because Age of Wonders 4 is getting another big update! Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive just announced Expansion Pass 3, and it’s going to include some cool cosmetic stuff plus three expansions – a ruler pack, a culture pack, and a story pack. The first one dropping is called ‘Thrones of Blood,’ and it’s a ruler pack. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 11, 2025. I can’t wait to see what new options it adds to my next campaign!
The ‘Thrones of Blood’ update introduces vampires to Age of Wonders 4, a feature that hadn’t been included until now. Players can now select a Vampire Elder as their ruler and use powerful blood magic. This includes a unique ability to turn heroes into vampire servants who share their experience points with the hero who created them.
The new DLC, including the Tome of Blood Rite, Tome of Torment, and Tome of the Crimson Reign, adds a wealth of content for players to embrace their inner vampire. Expect new units, spells, and buildings, alongside a new story campaign, additional Ancient Wonders, and a unique landmark to build.
In total, Expansion Pass 3 will consist of the following elements:
- Cosmic Wanderer – cosmetic pack; immediate unlock
- Thrones of Blood – ruler pack; available on November 11, 2025
- Rise from Ruin – culture pack; available in Q1 2026
- Secrets of the Archmages – story pack; available in Q2 2026
The Rise from Ruin expansion will introduce players to the Nomad Culture and let them discover and wield powerful ancient magic. Secrets of the Archmages will add new story-driven realms, perfect for those who enjoy campaign-style gameplay. Both expansions will include new Tomes of Magic and neutral units, broadening the game’s overall strategic options alongside their unique focuses.
