As a long-time Marvel fan who has been following the MCU since its inception, I can say with absolute certainty that the revelation of Mephisto’s existence is nothing short of electrifying! For years, we’ve been on a rollercoaster ride of speculation and anticipation, fueled by tantalizing hints and Easter eggs. The mention in “Agatha All Along” was like a dream come true, validating our suspicions that the infamous demon lord had been lurking in the shadows all this time.
Our long national extra-dimensional Hell nightmare is over. After years of anticipation, speculation, and frustration, the MCU has finally confirmed that Mephisto exists in its cinematic universe. Potions witch Jennifer Kale made a direct reference to the nefarious demon during Agatha All Along‘s third episode. Now that we know the infamous Marvel Comics character is out there, we can ask new questions. Like where and when might we meet him? That is, if we haven’t already.
In the suspenseful scene titled “Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials” from Agatha All Along, a festive gathering took a sudden turn into a grave caution as Jennifer advised Teen about Agatha. She hinted that some people suspect Agatha exchanged her lost child Nicholas for the Book of the Damned. This theory gains credence later in the episode when Agatha has a chilling vision of a bassinet with a baby. When discussing the possible outcomes for Nicholas, she speculated he might be deceased, transformed into a demon, or possibly acting on behalf of none other than Mephisto.
For quite a while, fans and critics alike have been eagerly anticipating the appearance of Mephisto in various Marvel productions, especially during “WandaVision.” We were always on high alert for any hints or clues, as Mephisto appeared to be the most probable villain hidden within the series. The Disney+ series subtly dropped Easter eggs and references to him, fueling this speculation further. However, despite these suggestions, Mephisto, the malevolent ancient ruler of the Hell dimension, was never actually seen. Not even in “Spider-Man 3” or “Multiverse of Madness.” No character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever uttered his name…until this moment.
And he sounds as terrifying as we imagined, considering Jennifer made it sound as though ending up an agent of Mephisto is worse than dying or just being a regular demon.
Given that Mephisto has been confirmed in the MCU, we can resume speculating about his potential appearance. Could he make an entrance on ‘Agatha All Along’ or perhaps in a second season of ‘WandaVision’? Or maybe unexpectedly show up in a film yet to be announced?
Could it be that Mephisto has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe without us realizing it? The old saying goes: “The Devil’s greatest trick was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” Now that we know Mephisto does, perhaps there will be evidence to suggest he’s been here all along.
