As a fan who’s been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over two decades, I must say, the finale of Agatha All Along has left me both heartbroken and intrigued. The revelation about Nicholas Scratch was indeed shocking, but it adds another layer to Agatha’s character that we hadn’t anticipated.
In more casual terms, the last two installments of “Agatha All Along” have just been released. Although they provided answers to some major queries, they also presented a number of puzzles that we can ponder over and try to solve on our own.
One of the greatest enigmas revolved around Agatha’s child, Nicholas Scratch. Initially, whispers suggested that Agatha had offered up her son to Mephisto in exchange for the Darkhold. However, as the story unfolded, it became clear that Agatha held deep affection for her son, and some past event involving him left her with an enduring sorrow.
In Episode 9, we discover Agatha’s tragic past. A flashback scene finds her in a forest, on the verge of giving birth but gravely ill. Moments before labor, she spots Death emerging nearby. It is revealed that Agatha’s son was destined to be stillborn and miraculously should not have survived the birthing process.
Agatha struck a bargain with Death, who informed her that he couldn’t restore his life, only offer additional moments. Regardless, she accepted the terms and began slaying witches in order to extend their shared temporal span, using the time thus gained to care for her son.
In the end, Nicky got tired of that life and chose to leave with Death into the unknown.
Despite learning about the tragic tale of Nicholas Scratch, an intriguing question lingers unanswered: Who exactly is the identity of Nicky’s biological father?
It’s surprising that there’s no mention at all of Nicky’s father in the story. Perhaps a brief note about him being an insignificant character or someone whom Agatha charmed would add a touch more depth to the narrative.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve been pondering over an intriguing theory that resonates with me – could Mephisto possibly be Nicholas’ father? This notion arises from his comic book ties to the demon realm and his mysterious bond with Agatha. There’s even a hint in Agatha’s words shortly after giving birth to him that seems to suggest this connection: “In the depths of darkness, a child shall be born, a child destined to shake the very foundations of our world.” Could this prophecy be pointing towards Mephisto?
I spoke no spell. I said no incantation. You… You were made from scratch.
The initial statement implies that Agatha didn’t employ magic to bring Nicky into existence, unlike how Wanda did with her sons. The second part seems to allude to something unusual or extraordinary. Typically, babies don’t originate from anything, and Agatha’s comment indicates a mysterious method of conception might have taken place.
Given that Agatha seems to lack virtuous qualities, it’s plausible that Mephisto could be linked to this situation. This ties in with his relationships with both Nicholas and Agatha. However, this leads us to wonder why Mephisto didn’t rescue his son when he had the chance. Or perhaps he did save him by transporting him to his own realm and imprisoning his spirit there.
You know what? It’s clear as day: Agatha seems destined for a one-way ticket to the depths below, or wherever Mephisto’s domain lies within the MCU. When she admitted her fear of crossing over and confronting her son, it subtly hints that Nicky might be sharing her fate, which means he’d be spending eternity in the same place. Let that thought marinate for a bit.
