After ‘The Acolyte,’ ‘Star Wars Fans Are Wondering, “How does she still have a job?”

As a seasoned gamer and Star Wars enthusiast with decades of fandom under my belt, I can’t help but share my two cents on this ongoing saga. Kathleen Kennedy, the current head honcho at Lucasfilm, has been a subject of debate among fans for quite some time now. While her leadership has undeniably brought us some amazing content, it’s also been responsible for projects that have left many of us scratching our heads in confusion.

Regardless of personal opinions about her, Kathleen Kennedy holds a significant position in Hollywood as one of its key executives. Currently leading Lucasfilm, she oversees the Star Wars franchise together with Disney. Although Star Wars has been an influential pillar of modern science-fiction for many years, some recent projects have not fared well, and there’s been criticism directed towards Kennedy from fans.

Over time, Kennedy has received criticism due to certain decisions that have angered numerous fans, leading some of them to blame Kennedy entirely for the current issues plaguing the series. However, there are whispers suggesting that Kathleen Kennedy may be contemplating retirement, but for now, she remains CEO of Lucasfilm.

The situation has left some fans puzzled, as they question why Lucasfilm continues to keep Kennedy in the lead role, given that numerous Disney-backed Star Wars ventures either failed or fell short of expectations. This has ignited a lively discussion among fans online, which we will delve into and report on here.

The origin of this argument stems from the cancellation of “The Acolyte“, a recent series. While some critics were attacking the show due to political and ideological aspects, it’s worth noting that the series did have its inherent problems, as we’ve discussed on Fiction Horizon. These issues may very well have contributed to its cancellation. However, it’s also reasonable to believe that others disagree with this assessment.

Meanwhile, supporters are engaging in a “struggle for support” aimed at reviving The Acolyte series and removing it from the canon. Regardless of your stance, some fans have started discussing Kennedy once more and are curious about how she continues to thrive and maintain her position within Lucasfilm, amidst all the cancellations and modifications.

It might be beneficial to consider a change in leadership, with someone who genuinely appreciates the source material taking Kathleen Kennedy’s place. As it stands, her tenure seems only to have diminished the esteem of the original films. In fact, I’d choose the prequel trilogy over what she’s produced any day.

Unfortunately, the situation isn’t ideal. It seems we need fresh perspectives to rejuvenate this franchise that’s only managed one excellent film and one outstanding TV series in the past decade.

Disney hasn’t learned the hard lesson yet apparently.
