The lead vocalist of Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, who was recognized for his extravagant stage attire, would consistently wear a scarf around his microphone during performances. Now, his daughter has disclosed the actual explanation behind the use of this famous accessory.
In the most recent installment of The Sibling Revelry podcast, Mia Tyler, the 46-year-old daughter of a rockstar, shared an intriguing detail with hosts Kate and Oliver Hudson. She explained that her father often used scarves not just as fashion accessories, but also to discreetly conceal pills. Moreover, she disclosed that her father’s wardrobe had hidden pockets where he would stash whatever substances he was consuming at the time.
Mentioning his unconventional past, Mia explained, “He used to conceal his pills in his microphone covers during performances, which is the reason behind the scarves you see on his mic.
Mia’s half-sibling, Liv Tyler (aged 47), added her thoughts, commenting that their father was quite adventurous during those times and had a history of using many illicit substances.
As a devoted follower, I can share that for nearly a decade, I maintained sobriety. However, in 2022, after undergoing foot surgery, I found myself slipping back into the use of prescription pain medication. Unfortunately, this occurred at a time when Aerosmith was preparing to resume our Las Vegas residency. My relapse resulted in us having to postpone our initial performances scheduled for June and July that year.
At a public announcement, Tyler’s fellow band members disclosed that he chose to admit himself into a live-in rehabilitation facility, focusing on his healing process.
As a teenager, Tyler initially dabbled with substances like drugs and alcohol. During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2012, he admitted that he had tried LSD during his high school years since using it was viewed as trendy among his peers.
In various instances throughout his past, the musician has sought treatment in rehabilitation facilities due to his longstanding struggle with drug addiction. As a result, his eldest daughter Liv, born from a relationship with Bebe Buell, was primarily raised in Maine by her grandmother, aunt, and uncle because of her father’s unavailability. It wasn’t until she was approximately 8 or 9 years old that Liv had the opportunity to meet her father at one of Todd Rundgren’s concerts.
