Initially, the initial two seasons of ‘Monster’ received a blend of positive and negative feedback yet managed to thrive, instantly climbing to the number one position on Netflix during its debut week. Subsequently, ‘The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ skyrocketed to become the second most-streamed English-language series on Netflix, surpassing the 1 billion hour view milestone within just 60 days.
In recognition of its achievements, the story about Lyle and Erik Menendez received four Golden Globe nominations and six Emmy nominations. Evan Peters was honored with the Best Actor award, while Niecy Nash took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress accolade. Additionally, the series garnered three more Golden Globe nominations.
It came as little shock when ‘Monster’ got a green light for its third season in 2024. This new installment, titled ‘The Original Monster,’ centers around the notorious serial killer Ed Gein, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam.
According to a recent update from industry expert Jeff Sneider in his newsletter, it’s been revealed that the well-known social media sensation and actress, Addison Rae, is set to appear in the cast for ‘Monster’ Season 3.
Rae primarily rose to popularity through her popular TikTok posts which feature dance routines and personal lifestyle content. This rapid rise to fame led her to venture into acting, landing a role in the Netflix movie ‘He’s All That’. Beyond her digital influence, she has also delved into music and established herself as a recognized brand endorser.
The manufacturing process was scheduled to kick off in October 2024. On October 4, it was officially announced that the season would be titled ‘The Original Monster.’ This season will delve into the life of Ed Gein, known as the first notorious serial killer, and examine how true crime gained prominence within popular culture.
As a passionate film aficionado, I can’t help but delve into the chilling tale of Ed Gein, an American figure notorious for his macabre exploits in the mid-20th century. Known for his heinous crimes, he was apprehended for the murders of two women, yet it was later uncovered that his depravity extended far beyond these acts. He would dig up corpses from local cemeteries and create bizarre artifacts using their remains. The dark legacy of Gein has left an indelible mark on popular culture, influencing a host of fictional characters such as Norman Bates from ‘Psycho’ and Leatherface from ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’
