Adam Scott’s Real Injury Made It Into Severance Season 2 Finale Fight

In my perspective, the late Mr. Drummond of Lumon Industries was far from admirable. His transgressions against humanity were numerous and appalling – from hypocrisy in his use of language to barbaric practices such as sacrificing goats and humans for corporate gain. However, just before he departed, he graciously bestowed upon us all a parting gift – a stark reminder that he was nothing but hollow.

The man who professed to uphold Kierkegaard’s nine principles clearly failed to conquer his Four Tempers during an altercation involving Mark S., as evidenced by his outburst when attempting to reach the Testing Floor elevator. In this instance, Drummond revealed a depth of malice, launching a brutal assault on a marcodata refiner. This encounter was not only harrowing for the show’s viewers, but it was particularly grueling for Adam Scott, who endured the physical pain of striking his head against a wall during filming.

And we all got to see how, because director Ben Stiller put it in the show.

During an interview with GQ (which was initially reported on Slashfilm), Scott shared details about the intense fight scene involving his character in the innie world during the season 2 finale of Severance. Here’s what he had to say about the carefully planned sequence and the difficulties of filming it in a confined hallway:

In an interview with GQ (first mentioned on Slashfilm), Scott discussed the fight scene featuring his character from the innie world in Severance’s season 2 finale. Here’s what he shared about the intricate choreography and challenges of filming it within a tight hallway:

Essentially, what I’m saying is that the real risky business was performing stunts, and they were simply amazing. However, during one attempt, I accidentally collided with a wall. It took me a moment to gather myself because I was pushed against the wall. I was supposed to protect myself by raising my arm, something we had rehearsed countless times, but I got snagged on my costume instead. A doctor was summoned, and Ben Stiller made sure I was alright before he later approached me and whispered, “By the way, you were fantastic,” which ended up being included in the final cut of the show.

Excellent work by all, with the exception of the suit, we’re disappointed about Adam Scott’s injury. However, we appreciate that everyone responded well in the situation, and subsequently transformed what was initially an accident into a remarkable scene for filmmaking.

But hopefully that never happens again. With Drummond dead there’s a good chance it won’t.
