Acclaimed Sci-Fi Sequel Tops Hulu’s Top 10 Most-Watched Movies List This Week Again

Hulu is seeing a lot of viewers this week, with people enjoying everything from action-packed sci-fi to historical dramas. Both new movies and older favorites are popular, leading to a jump in subscriptions. Right now, psychological thrillers, comedies, and action films are the most-watched titles on the platform, as of late February.

‘The Mummy Returns’ (2001)

The O’Connell family is in danger again when Imhotep, a mummy brought back to life, searches for the immense power of the Scorpion King. Rick and Evelyn embark on a worldwide journey to rescue their son and stop Imhotep from building an unstoppable, immortal army. The final showdown takes place at the legendary Oasis of Ahm Shere. This second film builds on the series’ lore with new magical elements and even bigger, more spectacular battles.

‘The Astronaut’ (2025)

Astronaut Sam Walker makes a stunning return to Earth after her first space mission, found adrift in a damaged capsule near the Atlantic coast. Though everyone celebrates her rescue, she’s kept under strict observation to make sure she hasn’t brought anything – or anyone – back with her from space. As Sam tries to rebuild her life, she begins to suspect she isn’t alone, and that something followed her home. The movie delves into the emotional and psychological toll of deep-space travel and the resulting feelings of isolation.

‘Ella McCay’ (2025)

I just finished watching this film, and it really got me thinking. It’s about a young, hopeful politician trying to make a difference, but her personal life is… messy, to say the least. She’s stepping into the governor’s shoes after years of learning from a respected figure, and the movie does a great job of showing just how much pressure comes with that. It’s not about scandals or big policies, but the quiet struggles she faces – both within herself and from the outside world. James L. Brooks, who I’ve always loved, is back directing, and he really focuses on the characters. It’s a funny, but also really thoughtful, look at what it means to be a leader today, with a fantastic cast bringing it all to life.

‘Blended’ (2014)

When a blind date goes wrong, Lauren and Jim, both single parents, unexpectedly end up sharing a vacation suite at a beautiful African resort. They don’t particularly like each other, but they have to work together for the sake of their kids during a week filled with family-friendly activities. As the trip goes on, the two families connect and realize they have a lot in common as parents. The movie brings Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore together again in a heartwarming story about finding love again.

‘The Mummy’ (1999)

Rick O’Connell, an adventurer, teams up with a librarian and her brother to search for the lost city of Hamunaptra in Egypt. However, their journey accidentally revives the ancient High Priest Imhotep, who starts unleashing the ten plagues upon the world. Now, the group must figure out how to stop the undying priest before he can complete a ritual to bring back his beloved. ‘The Mummy’ successfully combined action, scares, and comedy, becoming a classic adventure film.

‘The Help’ (2011)

During the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi, a young writer begins a book project centered around the experiences of African American maids. She chronicles their everyday lives and the unfair treatment they endure while working for wealthy white families. This work sparks important conversations and challenges the community to address deeply rooted racial issues and social inequalities. The story, based on Kathryn Stockett’s novel, emphasizes the bravery of those who dare to challenge the status quo.

‘Django Unchained’ (2012)

Django Unchained follows a former slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter to hunt down outlaws in the American South. Their main mission is to save the protagonist’s wife from a cruel plantation owner in Mississippi. As they try to reach her, they face numerous dangerous fights, eventually leading to a confrontation at the plantation known as Candyland. The film is a stylish and often shocking take on themes of revenge and what justice means.

‘F Valentine’s Day’ (2026)

This funny and heartwarming movie explores what happens when people get tired of the pressure around Valentine’s Day. It follows a group of characters navigating breakups, new crushes, and going it alone in a busy city. Instead of a typical romance, the film finds humor in dating mishaps and awkward moments, offering a fresh take on holiday movies.

‘Rental Family’ (2025)

An American actor down on his luck moves to Tokyo and starts working for a unique agency: they rent out ‘family members’ for clients. He takes on different roles – sometimes a husband, sometimes a grieving son – and through these temporary, staged relationships, he starts to learn about what it means to connect with others and find his own place in the world. ‘Rental Family’ offers a fascinating glimpse into the growing industry of professional companionship in Japan today.

‘Predator: Badlands’ (2025)

The newest ‘Predator’ film takes place in the future and centers on two sisters fighting for survival in a dangerous world. They quickly realize they’re being stalked by a technologically advanced alien hunter, famous for its ability to hide and powerful weapons. To survive, they have to be clever and use the landscape to their advantage. ‘Predator: Badlands’ expands the story of the franchise, exploring a new chapter in the conflict between humans and the alien Predator.
