As a child, Rodgers regularly went to church with his family each Sunday, and he felt that these experiences were firmly grounded in a two-dimensional viewpoint, which was predominantly black and white. However, his outlook started changing significantly upon encountering the writings of spiritual author, Rob Bell.

Starting from around 2011, Rodgers discovered Rob Bell’s work through his NOOMA videos, which eventually led him to 2014. He mentioned that Bell presented the tales of the Bible in a fresh and intriguing manner, showed affection towards everyone, and refrained from passing judgment on people. The teachings of Bell sparked Rodgers’ curiosity to delve into unconventional avenues of faith.

Rodgers expresses that he played a significant role in helping him understand and dissect the religion of his upbringing more thoroughly. As he puts it, “The culture I was raised in is strictly black and white. It’s either this or that, with no room for ambiguity. He was instrumental in helping me delve deeper into the religion of my youth.” Furthermore, he mentions that his personal journey involved reading various books on philosophy, self-improvement, and spirituality.

Previously, Aaron Rodgers has openly expressed his skepticism towards organized religion. During a 2020 podcast conversation with his girlfriend Danica Patrick, he referred to religion as a crutch and challenged the idea of a deity who imposes eternal damnation on individuals.

He expressed his confusion by saying, “It’s hard for me to understand how one could believe in a God who would condemn the majority of His creation to a burning hell. Isn’t such a loving, compassionate, all-encompassing, and powerful being supposed to cherish and preserve His magnificent creation instead of destroying it with fire at the end?

His comments allegedly demoralized his family, as it was said that these comments went against the core values they hold dear.
