As a cinephile, I often find myself scratching my head at the intricate naming conventions of film franchises. It seems like only the marketing gurus understand this secret tongue. Take the Final Destination series for example, with sequels named as ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘The Final Destination’, ‘5’ and ‘Bloodlines’. Absolutely mind-boggling! Well, it looks like another franchise has just been added to that list. According to Deadline, John Krasinski will be penning, producing, and directing the fourth movie in the A Quiet Place series. And get this – the title of the movie? A Quiet Place Part III.
Indeed, the highly anticipated sequel to the groundbreaking sci-fi/horror series that made the unusual gesture of sticking your finger into your ear to hush others has returned! The initial film, released in 2018, sent shockwaves through the cinematic world with its innovative take on monster-centric thrillers. Given its success, it was only natural for more chapters to follow. Much like the first movie, Krasinski took on directing and co-writing duties, and this time around he also penned the script. The original cast members, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds, return, with Krasinski’s character (spoiler alert) passing away in the first film but reappearing only in flashbacks for the second installment. Stepping into new roles are Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
John Krasinski, who was not only the lead actor but also co-wrote the script for the third movie, titled “A Quiet Place: Day One“. This prequel is directed by Michael Sarnoski and features Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Hounsou (all previously associated with Marvel). The film portrays the initial stages of an alien invasion as it strikes a significant city. Consequently, the sequence of the series will be “Part I“, “Part II“, “Day One“, and “Part III“. Such a lineup is enticing enough to make one consider flying privately.
The third installment of “A Quiet Place,” currently lacking a cast, has announced its release date as July 9, 2027. So, be prepared to stick your nose back into the story once more.
