Danny Webb is a veteran actor with many years of experience in Hollywood. However, his recent appearance in HBO’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” – the second episode of the new “Game of Thrones” series – has really put him in the spotlight. He played the character Ser Arlan of Pennytree in a memorable scene that viewers are still talking about.
I was honestly stunned when the episode began! There was a completely nude shot of the character, and immediately everyone online started talking about how incredible they looked. It really showcased their physique and definitely got people’s attention.
Ira Parker, the show’s creator, playfully pretended he’d forgotten whether the prop weapon was genuine or not. But on January 26th, the truth was revealed. Waldo Mason, a prosthetic designer, shared on Instagram that his team created the impressive weapon. He posted, “Very proud to have forged Ser Arlan Pennytree’s formidable weapon for the opening moments of this episode!” along with pictures detailing the creation process.
I was so impressed with the team who created the prosthetic! They really went all out, including artists, to make this ten-inch silicone piece look incredibly realistic. Mason told us applying it was a pretty personal process, and it happened in this little white tent out in the rainy countryside of Belfast. He was so thankful that the artist, Webb, was a total pro and willing to work with them to get everything just right – he was apparently super patient during all the fittings, which is amazing!
You know, as a movie fan, I really appreciated what Ira Parker did with Ser Arlan. Even though the character doesn’t stick around for long, Parker wanted to give him a little bit of legend, something to make him memorable. He felt Arlan’s death – just dying alone on a road – needed something extra. As he told Entertainment Weekly, he wanted to give him that ‘one special thing,’ and he even referenced Boogie Nights as an inspiration for giving even minor characters a memorable moment.

I’m so excited for Danny Webb! It’s amazing to see him not only acting in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” but also following his dream of motorcycle racing. He recently started his own team, Stanford Racing, in the Moto4 British Cup, and he’s actually the team manager! It’s fantastic to see him so busy and pursuing something he’s clearly passionate about, even while filming is underway.
Let me tell you, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is a refreshing change of pace from “Game of Thrones.” It’s a much more intimate story, just six half-hour episodes following a wandering knight, Dunk, and his young sidekick, Egg. I caught the premiere on January 18th, and it’s been getting rave reviews – everyone seems to be loving the charming, almost buddy-comedy vibe. It’s a smaller story, but it packs a punch!
