As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the intricate worlds of action-packed cinematic universes, I can confidently say that the continued expansion of the John Wick franchise is nothing short of exhilarating. From films to TV series, each new addition promises to deepen the lore and enrich the immersive experience for fans like myself.
The world of John Wick keeps growing, with more stories unfolding beyond the four movies. In the pipeline is the spinoff film, Ballerina, and the prequel TV series, The Continental, which debuted on Peacock in 2023, taking us back to the 1970s and providing a glimpse into events between the third and fourth John Wick films. Not to be overlooked is John Wick 5, currently in development, and another potential John Wick TV series, tentatively named John Wick: Under the High Table, being developed by Lionsgate TV. This series is set to continue the narrative right after the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, giving us insights into the enigmatic organization we’ve come to love.
The John Wick TV series doesn’t have a home yet but there’s an early synopsis:
“John Wick’s departure from the High Table has left its standing uncertain, and fresh personalities are set to emerge, seeking recognition. Some established characters, though, stay loyal to the traditional system. The storyline will blend the familiar with the novel, propelling the John Wick world into a modern era.”
It seems unlikely that John Wick himself (Keanu Reeves) will appear in the new series, as most fans assume he’s dead. However, he might make a surprise appearance at the end to set up the next film. The series is being executive produced by Keanu Reeves, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee of Thunder Road, Chad Stahelski (who will also direct the pilot), and Robert Levine, who is writing, showrunning, and serving as an executive producer for John Wick: Under the High Table.
