‘A Horrible Lie’: Julian Casablancas Gets Rebellious Refusing To Vote In Ongoing US Elections

As a long-time fan who has followed The Strokes since their early days, I find Julian Casablancas‘ recent social media antics intriguing, to say the least. His rebellious spirit and unconventional approach to expressing his political views are reminiscent of the edgy, raw energy that made The Strokes a household name.

Recently, Julian Casablancas stunned his followers by displaying a defiant spirit on social media. Embracing the role of the outcast, the musician shared an uncommon image featuring a sticker that stated “I Protested,” expressing dissent against the standard post which reads “I Voted” that everyone else uses after casting their ballot.

In a recent Instagram post, the musician from The Strokes additionally clarified the reasons behind his choice regarding this matter.

Initially, the lead singer discussed a debate he had with his beloved and influential mother regarding his choice not to cast a vote. He further mentioned that she had urged him to do so, primarily to prevent Donald Trump from being elected, and also reminded him to consider the future well-being of his children.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but echo the sentiments expressed by the singer of “You Only Live Once.” He poignantly stated, “My thoughts constantly drift towards my kids. In my opinion, these two political figures and their antics just seem like a sick joke… an appalling deception.

He stated that when we vote, it’s not just about the military, oil corporations, and banks; instead, the media serves as their means of influencing public opinion, often through propaganda or entertainment.

The Why Are Sundays So Depressing musician then even recalled how “the way they cheated Bernie,” adding that he sees no point in choosing one party during the ongoing US election.

He spoke to his followers, stating that the media and the political parties want the citizens of America to think elections matter; however, he also clarified that this way the giants won’t let things change in the country, adding, “But it has to change.”

After he posted an update on the previously mentioned platform Call It Fate, Call It Karma, the artist received a significant amount of criticism, evident in the comments left beneath his post.

On Reddit, someone posted a screenshot showing that a fan (Julian Casablancas) expressed his disappointment on Instagram with the caption “Super Disappointed.

I noticed some people on the same social media platform highlighting that my bandmate, Nikolai Fraiture, had exercised his civic duty by voting in the recent elections. In fact, he even posted a picture of himself dressed up as “Halloween Voter 2024” with a candy in the frame.

I cast my vote on Halloween itself! Remember, the final voting day is today.” (Fraiture’s post, as seen on Instagram)

In the recent past, I found myself expressing my personal perspective on The Strokes’ standout track, “Last Night.” To be honest, it no longer resonates with me in a meaningful way and I must admit, I can’t quite pinpoint why this is the case.

He also mentioned that songs like Reptilia, Hard to Explain, and a few others are the ones he hasn’t grown tired of yet.
