As a long-time fan of both the MonsterVerse and Transformers franchises, I must say that this collaboration is like a dream come true! Growing up with Godzilla movies and Transformers cartoons, never in my wildest imagination did I think these two giants would share the same universe.
It’s well-known that the MonsterVerse movie series has gained immense popularity. Initially, it was just a fresh take on Godzilla and King Kong, but it quickly grew into a lucrative cinematic universe for the studio. With numerous successful releases, there are more projects in the pipeline. Interestingly, it appears that the MonsterVerse is also exploring an innovative form of partnership with another well-liked franchise.
The Transformers franchise holds a prominent place among the most renowned robot or mechanical action series in history. Originating from a line of action figures and a joint Japanese-American animated show, it has soared to global popularity and is often recognized as one of the greatest shows from the 1980s. After its initial release, various reboots and remakes have been produced, such as video games and live-action movie adaptations that had a promising start but experienced a dip in quality at some point.
After explaining the two franchises to you, it’s not hard to imagine a crossover between the MonsterVerse and Transformers, which we are excited to say is happening! And yes, Godzilla will have an extraordinary encounter with the Transformers in a way that is both unexpected and epic.
If you had envisioned a joint cinema project, I’m sorry to say it won’t materialize at this time. However, the partnership we’re discussing could serve as an initial step, potentially paving the way for a future cinematic collaboration between the iconic kaiju and mecha franchises.
Currently, there’s an exciting development in the world of toys. Instead of Optimus Prime and Megatron sticking to their usual roles, they will be portraying Mechagodzilla and Godzilla respectively. This unexpected twist is a delight for toy collectors, particularly those who appreciate transformable toys. We have an exclusive first-look video that gives you a glimpse of the awesome features this new product offers. Enjoy!
The official announcement of the collaboration reveals the following:
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m beyond excited to share this incredible news! Two legendary franchises from Japan – Godzilla, marking its impressive 70th anniversary, and Transformers, celebrating an equally stunning 40 years, have joined forces! To celebrate this double milestone, two unique items have hit the market: Megatron Type Godzilla, a figure based on the iconic Godzilla design, and Optimus Prime Type 3 Kiryu, modeled after Mechagodzilla. In the world of their TV shows and movies, Transformers are known for scanning Earth’s vehicles and transforming them!
The toys are planned for release in the year 2025, and currently, there’s no option for pre-ordering. However, we’re confident that many collectors and enthusiasts will be eager to acquire these two spectacular items once they become available, as their design is truly impressive and appealing!
