As a lifelong Marvel fan who’s been following the MCU since its inception, I find myself both excited and apprehensive about the Armor Wars project. The potential of this storyline to tie into the current Multiverse Saga is undeniably enticing. If done right, it could provide a fresh perspective on Victor von Doom’s character, which has long been overdue.
Marvel Studios is actively developing multiple projects, with some still under rumors and others officially confirmed. While some are fresh concepts, others have been in the pipeline for quite some time, even preceding the SAG-AFTRA strike which halted production completely. However, as you might surmise, prolonged waiting isn’t ideal, and there’s a risk these projects could get stuck in development limbo.
In this conversation, let’s focus on one of Marvel’s challenging productions: Armor Wars. The project has gone through several changes, starting as a film, then transitioning into a series, and now back to a movie. Despite these shifts, it remains one of Marvel’s most complex ventures, currently starring Mahershala Ali in the lead role for the reboot of another Marvel property, Blade.
In light of whispers that the Armor Wars project might be cancelled as suggested by industry insider DanielRPK, let’s propose a possible plot twist that could not only rescue Armor Wars but also seamlessly integrate it with the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline.
You might not remember it, but the controversial Iron Man comic book storyline titled Infamous Iron Man was a very intriguing 12-issue story by Brian Michael Bendis. The series is now considered a classic, albeit a controversial one, and we are mentioning it here because it actually provides the MCU with a perfect way of integrating the Armor Wars series into the current Multiverse Saga, as it connects Iron Man’s world to Victor von Doom, which – as you know – is a big deal, since Robert Downey Jr. will be playing the villain in the upcoming MCU projects. Before we continue, here is a brief synopsis:
Gathering Issues 1-12 of Infamous Iron Man (2016) and Invincible Iron Man (2017) #593-600 introduces a new Iron Man in the Marvel Universe – Victor Von Doom, formerly an infamous villain. Now, he’s stepping into the hero’s role, challenging the status quo as Tony Stark couldn’t quite manage. But what is Doom’s ultimate objective? Many are curious, including Ben Grimm, Pepper Potts, and the young Iron Man successor, Riri Williams. In his new heroic journey, Doom confronts a cosmic-level threat and his deadliest enemy, who he believed to have vanished forever! However, an unexpected truth emerges concerning Victor’s supposedly deceased mother. Additionally, when the hunt for Tony Stark begins, it’s time to determine definitively who will don the Iron Man armor once and for all!

It’s clear that this approach offers an excellent opportunity to tie in Armor Wars with the Multiverse saga. After making a few adjustments along the way, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could successfully implement it. The question now is whether they will muster the bravery to execute it in this manner or not.
