The market, that grand theatre of human folly, doth presently boast a bull, though one of increasingly labored breath. Experts, those oracles of questionable foresight, murmur of a slowing in the year of our Lord 2026, a rotation from the over-inflated baubles of technology to more…substantial, if less dazzling, fare. Yet, even amidst such pronouncements, a shrewd eye may discern value, if one is willing to look where the multitudes do not.
Act I: Dell Technologies – The Server’s Masquerade
Behold, Dell Technologies, a name once synonymous with the common personal computer – a device, I confess, I hold in some disdain for its tendency to encourage idleness. But appearances, as any seasoned observer of human affairs knows, are often deceptive. For Dell hath undergone a transformation, casting off the guise of a mere purveyor of boxes and screens to become, in truth, a merchant of shadows – the shadowy realm of data centers and the intricate networks that bind them.
It is in this new vocation that Dell finds its true calling, providing the very sinews of artificial intelligence – those servers and networking devices upon which the modern alchemists of data perform their mysterious calculations. Revenue in this domain hath climbed a most respectable 37% in the last quarter, and a staggering 43% over the preceding three. Demand, it seems, doth outstrip supply, a situation which, naturally, doth please those who control the flow.
The company boasts a backlog of contracts, a veritable mountain of promises yet to be fulfilled, totaling $18.4 billion. A most impressive sum, indeed. Furthermore, they have revised their expectations upward, predicting a shipment increase of $150 million and projecting a fiscal 2026 revenue boost of 17%. One might almost suspect a touch of optimism, were it not for the inherent cynicism that governs my own judgment.
And the price? A mere 15 times earnings, and a paltry 9 times forward earnings! A valuation so low it borders on the absurd. Analysts, those ever-reliable soothsayers, foresee a price of $165.50 per share, a 41% increase over the current level. A most agreeable prospect, though I caution against succumbing to the intoxicating allure of easy gains.
Act II: Broadridge Financial Solutions – The Proxy’s Privilege
Now, let us turn our attention to Broadridge Financial Solutions, a company whose shares have suffered a most unfortunate decline of 22% this year. The reasons for this downturn are shrouded in mystery, whispered amongst the financial cognoscenti as a consequence of uncertainties surrounding fintechs, high valuations, and the ever-present specter of regulatory interference. However, I suspect a more prosaic explanation: the simple fact that few understand what Broadridge actually does.
Broadridge, you see, is the master of proxy voting materials and investor communications – a rather dull business, to be sure, but one possessed of a remarkable resilience. They control a staggering 80% of the market, and the cost of switching providers is, shall we say, discouraging. It is a moat, not of water, but of inertia and complexity – a most effective barrier against competition.
And the company continues to thrive, reporting a 10% increase in revenue and a 21% jump in adjusted earnings in the most recent quarter. They predict earnings growth of 9% to 12% for the full fiscal year. A most respectable performance, even in these turbulent times.
The stock, however, remains undervalued, trading at a mere 18 times earnings. Two-thirds of Wall Street analysts deem it a “buy,” anticipating a price increase of 41% over the next twelve months. A most enticing proposition, though I urge caution. The market, after all, is a fickle mistress.
Thus, we have two companies – Dell and Broadridge – offering a glimmer of hope in a world awash in speculation and folly. Whether they will, in fact, experience a “bull run” in 2026 remains to be seen. But for the discerning investor, willing to look beyond the superficial and embrace a touch of cynicism, they represent a most agreeable opportunity.
