During a chat with Flip Your Wig, the actor revealed that for their new project, they plan to adopt traditional filmmaking techniques. Additionally, he likened the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film to his initial standalone movie within the series, titled Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Tom Holland reflects on filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
During our discussion with the interviewer, Holland mentioned his plans to elevate Spider-Man: Brand New Day above its predecessors in the franchise. He shared that the entire movie was filmed on stages, but now they’re planning to embrace classic filmmaking techniques by shooting scenes in authentic locations instead.
As per news outlets, the production team plans to travel to Glasgow, Scotland, to capture multiple movie scenes. This site has been frequently chosen by filmmakers due to its popularity, with movies such as Avengers: Infinity War, The Batman, and Kraven the Hunter having filmed there previously.
Currently immersed in The Odyssey production, the 27-year-old actor finds similarities between the latest Marvel film and his initial solo movie within the franchise. Holland expressed this comparison by saying, “Making it will feel like returning to Homecoming. It’s been so long since I last worked on it that it’ll be like a welcome burst of fresh air.
What is Spider-Man: Brand New Day about?
In the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series, Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker. This upcoming film is under the direction of Destin Daniel Cretton, a recognized director from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings project.
The storyline for the upcoming Spider-Man movie is being kept secret, but we know that it will continue from where the last film left off. As for the cast members, Holland will be joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Jon Bernthal.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
