Elden Ring Nightreign’s inevitable randomiser mod is here to spice up your runs with extra funky map scrambling

If you find that the randomness in Elden Ring’s Nightreign hasn’t been fulfilling your craving for unpredictable chaos in each run, even with the updated bosses, there’s now a mod that adds a randomizer to it.

Although FromSoftware’s roguelike-style adaptation of their Souls formula brings a level of unpredictability similar to a major overhaul by a randomizer mod in one of the series’ standard games, modder thefifthmatt has managed to make further adjustments to this already innovative setup.

Use the Nightreign tool to both randomize and de-randomize game maps, providing variations beyond the base game’s limited set of map layouts per Nightlord. This is an initial step into Nightreign customization, with the developer suggesting it will form a foundation for more complex randomization options in future updates.

Essentially, when you use the randomizer, you might observe that Night Bosses are more diverse for each Nightlord. This is because it generates map layouts almost from scratch, giving it a lot of flexibility in positioning. In time, this feature could be expanded to randomly place enemies and bosses within maps, as well as offering extensive customization options for their placement.

The randomizer function operates by altering files upon launching the game, and it includes three separate settings for randomness: “much like the original game,” “evenly balanced,” and “highly random.” Each preset essentially does what it claims to do, with the “balanced” option seeming like a good starting point. The “extra” setting, on the other hand, sacrifices some placement limitations that are typically useful for balancing reasons to make things more challenging for hardcore players.

1. In addition, you have the option to select any custom mix of these features or additional ones such as boosting the frequency of Night Bosses significantly. Moreover, thefifthmatt has added extra choices, including raising the likelihood of terrain shifts and reinstating patch 1.01’s modifications to runes and revives, for those players who enjoy a tough challenge in single-player mode.

2. You can also tailor your own combination of these features or choose additional options like frequently encountering double Night Bosses. Furthermore, thefifthmatt has thrown in extra possibilities such as increasing the probability of shifting earth and restoring patch 1.01’s changes to runes and revives for those who prefer a more challenging single-player experience.

3. Besides these options, you can also mix and match any combination you like or select additional features, such as having double Night Bosses appear more frequently. Thefifthmatt has added on extra choices, including increasing the likelihood of terrain shifts and reinstating patch 1.01’s tweaks to runes and revives, for those players who seek a tougher single-player experience.

4. You can also create your own unique combination of these features or choose other options like having double Night Bosses more often. Thefifthmatt has added extra selections such as increasing the probability of terrain shifts and restoring patch 1.01’s adjustments to runes and revives, catering to players who enjoy a more challenging single-player game.

The maps aren’t fully randomness-compatible yet, but the modder asserts that it’s a step in the right direction and works well with Nightreign’s Seamless Co-op mod. If you’re interested in trying it out, you’ll need to download Mod Engine 3 to get started.
