Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 “Cinematic Cut” Will Be Screened At Film Festival

It’s highly likely that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will vie for Game of the Year in 2025, but its creators, Warhorse Studios, might have even more grand plans. A cinematic version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is scheduled to be unveiled at a film festival next month.

The highly-anticipated Cinematic Cut for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to make its debut on July 9 at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Although the length of the cinematic cut remains unspecified, it will continue the story of Henry, a blacksmith’s son who embarks on a journey to avenge his family and safeguard Sir Hans Capon following a diplomatic mission that goes awry.

Daniel Vávra and Petr Pekař share directing credits for the cinematic version. Vávra is responsible for writing and directing both Kingdom Come games, while Pekar oversees Warhorse Studios’ cinematic team that created approximately five hours of cutscenes for the sequel. It remains uncertain if Warhorse Studios plans to showcase the cinematic version outside of film festivals, but CEO Martin Frývadlský has shown great interest in ensuring the game’s narrative receives proper recognition.

For quite some time now, Frývadlský has expressed his desire to witness Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 unfold on the big screen. He is confident that the tale of a blacksmith’s son will resonate with cinema audiences and hold its own against the global competition in film productions. Alongside our team at the studio, we are honored to debut the story we’ve nurtured for years during the world premiere at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers were given the chance to sample a portion of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as part of a trial run. Moreover, CD Projekt Red’s co-CEO Adam Badowski has expressed admiration for the game, pointing out that it served as an inspiration for The Witcher 4, a project they are currently working on.
