Wilhelmina for PvE

WPQ Wilhelmina’s role: a buffer for Iron Monarch

Wilhelmina’s speciality is dealing ridiculously high damage to single targets.

In simpler terms, the character Iron Monarch Wilhelmina boasts the highest initial strike count in the game, clocking in at twelve strikes, equal to Hikage (limited). The ability to stack chains with multiple hits is crucial because it grants a 10% boost to the subsequent damage for every chain stacked within the same turn. When fully upgraded to +5 full potential, Wilhelmina’s skill delivers twelve strikes dealing 95% damage each, making her an exceptionally powerful attacker.

Queen Wilhelmina, the ruler of the Water Park, increases Iron Monarch’s ability to pile up chains by bestowing a reinforcement buff on chains. This chain reinforcement buff adds one additional chain stack with each attack. When you first apply the Water Park buff and then strike with Iron Monarch, you will amass a total of 24 chains.

If you combine PWB Refi’s chain reinforcement boost with Iron Monarch, each attack will result in 3 chains, totaling 36 chains. This makes Wilhelmina the top character for single-target chain accumulation within the game. Furthermore, Wilhelmina is undoubtedly the best single-target attacker available. Her chain stacking ability even surpasses that of Curse Celia, who amasses 24 chains when enhanced with PWB Refi and MB Celia. Naturally, Celia’s area of effect is a 3×3 space, making her the better option for widespread chain stacking.

WPQ Wilhelmina as an attacker

Water Park Queen Wilhelmina inflicts quite substantial damage, up to 9 times 90%, but her damage output isn’t quite as impressive as Iron Monarch Wilhelmina, who can deal up to 12 times 95%.

In summary, during end-game challenges, focus primarily on using WPQ as a protective shield and Iron Monarch as your primary attacker. You’ll notice that enhancing your costume level from +3 to +4 extends the duration of WPQ’s buff by two turns (one player turn), enabling you to employ WPQ less frequently and utilize Iron Monarch more regularly instead.

WPQ offers an advantage in its slightly extended reach (3 tiles), which can be useful on occasion within the narrative mode. However, this extra range seldom alters the fact that Wilhelmina’s main function is focused on handling individual adversaries.

Given this context, should we encounter a boss with a Vulnerability in a specific weak point shape, Wilhelmina would undoubtedly shine, as there aren’t many water-based characters equipped to handle such a formation at present.

How good is Iron Monarch Wilhelmina’s damage now?

It can be challenging to determine Iron Monarch Wilhelmina’s effective power following WPQ buff, as the impact varies based on the number of chains that have been accumulated prior to her attack. This is due to the fact that each additional chain stack results in decreasing benefits, or what we call ‘diminishing returns’. Here are two examples illustrating this concept:

Example 1: If Wilhelmina attacks with one chain stack, she gains a significant boost in power.

Example 2: However, if she has multiple chain stacks (let’s say five), the increase in her power will be less substantial compared to the first example.

The more chain stacks Wilhelmina accumulates before attacking, the less powerful each additional stack makes her, as shown in these examples.

In my gameplay experience, if Iron Monarch kicks things off during this round, she’s got a pair of Chain Reinforcement buffs from Water Park Wilhelmina and PWB Refi. With the chain damage accounted for, her effective damage multiplier skyrockets to an astonishing 3,021%! So, instead of dealing the regular damage from her 12 x 95% skill 12 times, it’s equivalent to a single, massive hit with a 1 x 3,021% skill!

You can see how the damage of each of her 12 hits is calculated using the table below:

Chain multiplier Skill damage Total damage
1.0x 95% 95.0%
1.3x 95% 123.5%
1.6x 95% 152.0%
1.9x 95% 180.5%
2.2x 95% 209.0%
2.5x 95% 237.5%
2.8x 95% 266.0%
3.1x 95% 294.5%
3.4x 95% 323.0%
3.7x 95% 351.5%
4.0x 95% 380.0%
4.3x 95% 408.5%
TOTAL 3,021%

In typical end game scenarios, it’s not common for players to run Wilhelmina without also running Liberta due to her top-tier physical buffs. This is because Onsen Manager Liberta offers a significant damage amplification buff that becomes active once at least 10 chains have been built up on the enemy. Consequently, it’s more effective to accumulate at least 10 chains on the enemy prior to attacking with Iron Monarch Wilhelmina.

As a gamer, let me share my experience: When I’ve already piled up 10 chains on an enemy with my previous attacker, Iron Monarch follows up and strikes. Now, if Iron Monarch has two chain reinforcement buffs from Water Park Wilhelmina and PWB Refi, the damage multiplier she deals, considering chain damage, amounts to a staggering 2,081%.

In the table provided, it’s evident that Iron Monarch delivers an overall damage of 4,161%, equivalent to a single attack with a multiplier of 1 x 2,081% when attacking after 10 chain stacks (2.0x damage) have already been applied.

Chain multiplier Skill damage Total damage
2.0x 95 190.0%
2.3x 95 218.5%
2.6x 95 247.0%
2.9x 95 275.5%
3.2x 95 304.0%
3.5x 95 332.5%
3.8x 95 361.0%
4.1x 95 389.5%
4.4x 95 418.0%
4.7x 95 446.5%
5.0x 95 475.0%
5.3x 95 503.5%
TOTAL 4,161%

Regardless, Wilhelmina’s single-target damage is incredibly potent, as demonstrated by the calculations I’ve provided to prevent any overstatement of her capabilities.

PvE Game Modes

Wilhelmina, with an exceptionally high number of hits, is ideally suited for the game ‘Last Night’. Here, you primarily use chain stacks to boost damage. However, it’s important to note that her WPQ chain buff will affect WPQ’s own attack, but this buff will not transfer to Iron Monarch.

Wilhelmina excels particularly in battles requiring heavy, focused attacks against individual targets. She harmonizes exceptionally with characters such as Zenith, Blade, and Eris who can enhance single-target damage and chain effects. However, it’s important to note that she lacks the ability to dish out area-of-effect damage, making her less effective against mobs or enemies with multiple vulnerabilities.

Wilhelmina for PvP

Wilhelmina costs 4 SP, a decision likely made by developers to limit her use in Player versus Player battles. This high price tag isn’t beneficial for PVP, especially considering Kendo Club Justia offers the same Area of Effect at just half the cost (2 SP).

Wilhelmina is not recommended for PVP.

Wilhelmina’s Exclusive Gear

Much like many other attackers, Wilhelmina gains an advantage from the enhanced stats on her unique equipment (a 90% increase in critical damage). However, having this specialized gear is far from essential for her to perform effectively. Given that Wilhelmina’s abilities are rather specific (effective only against single targets), her unique gear is often considered a non-essential item. It isn’t generally advised to acquire her exclusive equipment unless your goal is to rank high in PVE.

Conclusion

You’ve got a fresh Fated Interaction for Wilhelmina! Given this enticing feature, it’s worth acquiring at least one version of her character. After all, who could turn down our monarch?

In terms of gameplay, whether additional copies of Iron Monarch Wilhelmina are useful depends on your personal interest in this character and your drive to achieve top scores in challenging end-game content focused on single target bosses. One copy offers significant boosts to Iron Monarch’s power, but four copies are essential for high rankings because they enable an extra buff turn, allowing you to utilize Iron Monarch more frequently.

If you haven’t yet invested in Iron Monarch Wilhelmina, it might be wise to avoid making substantial investments in WPQ Wilhelmina, as this character comes with a steep price tag but has somewhat limited applications.
