The news arrived through the Nintendo Today app, a platform that Nintendo has been utilizing to share tidbits of information since its launch earlier this year. Notably, it was used to reveal the release date for the live-action Zelda film and the impending Splatoon Raiders. This is the first instance where a Nintendo Direct has been announced via this app, and at the moment, it hasn’t been posted on Twitter or any other social media platforms.

Based on previous Nintendo Direct presentations focused on individual games, the upcoming event is likely to last between 10 and 25 minutes. Given that information about Donkey Kong Bananza has been scarce so far, there’s much anticipation as the presentation will likely provide more details and possibly some fresh gameplay footage.

Donkey Kong Bananza will hit the shelves on July 17, 2025, a mere four weeks following its Direct debut. The game is designed exclusively for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
