BattleBit Remastered has posted a 16-second sign of life after over a year of silence

2023 saw a notable gap in the first-person shooter genre, but BattleBit Remastered, an indie game, stepped up to the plate, drawing approximately 100,000 players simultaneously at its height of fame each day.

Although developer SgtOkiDoki had the chance for something exceptional, they didn’t take advantage of it. The spark they captured slipped away uncontained. Following the announcement of an ambitious content plan for 2024 at the end of 2023, the developer became conspicuously quiet and remained so for the entire year. BattleBit has not received any updates since then, and most players have shifted their attention elsewhere.

This weekend, approximately 1,000 gamers are immersed in the virtual battlefield of the game, which is nearly enough to fully populate four lobbies with 254 players each, in this retro-inspired version of Battlefield.

On June 15, 2025, I stumbled upon an intriguing 16-second clip on the BattleBit Remastered YouTube channel, hinting at some upcoming gameplay. The caption simply read “Coming Soon” with a trademark symbol, sparking my curiosity about what’s next for this beloved game.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation, even though specific details about the game’s future aren’t revealed just yet. Yet, seeing signs that the game isn’t quite dead, old-school players like myself can’t help but harbor hope – it’s a breath of fresh air, at least.
