Stellar Blade creator praises PlayStation icon for discovering Eve and giving birth to the “heyday of console games”

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but express my deep affection for PlayStation, a console that has consistently delivered an outstanding collection of intellectual properties. The PS5, undeniably, has offered some fantastic exclusive titles, with Death Stranding 2 being one of the many exciting games on the horizon. However, if you ask many of us in the gaming community, we’d argue that its most golden era was during the reigns of the PS3 and PS4.

During those years, there was a different leader at the helm of Sony Interactive Entertainment. This individual, Shuhei Yoshida, holds a special place in our hearts. In fact, the creator of Stellar Blade has publicly lauded this PlayStation icon for discovering the game and ushering in the “golden age of console gaming.

Stellar Blade creator praises PlayStation icon Shuhei Yoshida

Shuhei Yoshida recently participated in a collaborative press conference with Kim Hyung-Tae, both being Stellar Blade’s director and CEO of SHIFT UP respectively, as well as Yoo Hyun-Suk, the director of Nikke Goddess of Victory, which falls under the SHIFT UP banner, being a gacha game.

In the chat, I shared my thoughts on Mr. Yoshida and Sony Interactive Entertainment. These insights were captured by the Japanese platform, 4gamer, but since it was translated through Google, there might be a few discrepancies here and there.

According to reports, Kim credited Mr. Yoshida for both uncovering the game “Stellar Blade” and backing the partnership between it and Sony Interactive Entertainment for its PlayStation publication. Kim expressed gratitude towards Yoshida and referred to him as the “mastermind behind the golden age of console gaming, from the inception of the PlayStation brand to the PS4.” The Stellar Blade director specifically highlighted the “PS3 and PS4 eras,” during which Yoshida was instrumental in supporting the game industry through notable titles like Uncharted and God of War.

In 2019, it’s said that Yoshida was introduced to SHIFT UP’s studio and was presented with a prototype of Stellar Blade. He found the prototype to be astonishing, attributing the game’s post-release success to factors such as character modeling, technical expertise, and graphical beauty. Moreover, he praised the game’s straightforward yet intense combat system. Additionally, Yoshida acknowledged SHIFT UP’s success was partially due to their collaboration with SIE producers and marketers.

Last but not least, Yoshida expressed his preference for Stellar Blade as he finds it challenging to play, being a third-person game.

The love the PlayStation community holds for Yoshida is truly merited, and it’s heartening to observe this admiration also reflected by developers who benefited under Yoshida’s leadership at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Although Yoshida no longer serves as president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, his influence within the gaming industry remains substantial. Interestingly, he has hinted that an upcoming PS Plus day-one release is his personal favorite game from SGF.

Meanwhile, in gaming updates, the lead actress for Silent Hill F has asserted that the game was so distressing to her that she felt her mental stability becoming precarious during the process of voicing her character.
