Eldritch turn-based RPG Chaos Zero Nightmare gets second gameplay trailer

Fans of open-world RPGs featuring gacha mechanics are in for a treat as upcoming games such as NTE, Silver Palace, Azur Promilia, and Arknights: Endfield join the ranks of popular titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. However, what about those who prefer the turn-based style?

It’s good to know that we won’t be left hungry either: The upcoming game, Chaos Zero Nightmare, which can be likened to a child born from the fusion of Reverse: 1999 and Limbus Company, with influences from Darkest Dungeon, has just released another gameplay trailer. Pre-registration for this turn-based gacha title will soon become available.

Under the joint development of Super Creative and publication by Smilegate (the team behind Epic Seven), this game intends to align with other popular South Korean gacha games like Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Blue Archage in success.

In a grim, post-apocalyptic science fiction setting, the game Chaos Zero Nightmare unfolds. This gacha title incorporates both turn-based and card-based combat mechanisms. Players assemble teams consisting of three characters, each equipped with five distinct attack and skill cards that make up their deck.

The resemblance to Darkest Dungeon isn’t limited to shared aesthetics and the Eldritch theme; it also appears that a sanity mechanism similar to the one in Darkest Dungeon has been implemented. Furthermore, during combat, characters are depicted as adorable chibi-style figures, much like they were in Reverse: 1999. Additionally, the characters’ ultimate abilities show an anime-inspired style.

Players will have the opportunity to “take on despair” when pre-registrations for the game open in July 2025. The highly anticipated title, Chaos Zero Nightmare, is slated for release on PC, iOS, and Android devices.
