Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Video Review

Title Reviewed: Tainted Griffin: The Downfall of Avalon, penned by Will Borger for PC platforms. Additionally playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

The Fall of Avalon” is a fresh perspective on an age-old tale, and it manages to captivate both as a narrative and a universe. It truly resonates with the phrase “The Once and Future King.” This story suggests that everything you see has occurred before and will happen again, unless we intervene – maybe not even then. The tales we create have an everlasting quality, repeating, overlapping, and intertwining as they are told – sometimes, a myth’s influence on us is stronger than the truth behind it. This is just how stories work. As I played “The Fall of Avalon,” it wasn’t always a seamless gaming experience, with technical issues and repetitive quest design. However, when it clicked, it truly resonated, and I couldn’t help but be drawn in. I believe that sometimes, the impact of a game matters more than its flaws. I appreciated being immersed in this world, with these characters, delving into this story. While there were times I didn’t enjoy playing it, and its incomplete state was frustrating, I can’t seem to stop thinking about it. Maybe that’s enough. Arthurian legend is a tragic tale, but the idea is that if it happens again, it could have a different outcome. Failure today doesn’t mean failure forever. Trying something bold and coming close is enough sometimes. This isn’t to excuse “Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon” for its imperfections. But they don’t deter me from acknowledging its achievements as well. Perhaps, like Arthur himself, the story here is not about what was or is, but what could have been, and might be again. And what could be is still quite extraordinary.
