MindsEye copies are already out in the wild and the impressions aren’t great

IO Interactive’s initial venture into publishing could definitely be improved: Copies of the forthcoming action game, MindsEye, developed by Build a Rocket Boy, are already being distributed in some parts of the world. Early player feedback isn’t particularly positive, and it’s so negative that the developers have released a public statement to assure fans they are working on a significant patch for release day to fix technical issues.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed something odd happening with the game MindsEye in Japan. It’s been taken down from the PlayStation Store and players are getting refunds. At the moment, it’s not available for purchase, but you can still add it to your wishlist.

It’s possible that the game hasn’t received its final rating from the classification board yet, as the store listing shows a logo from the ratings board but no official rating.

Instead of the Japanese Xbox Store, it appears to have displayed a finished rating from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and is continuing to accept pre-orders at this point.

Earlier, MindsEye faced unfavorable media attention due to allegations that a Build a Rocket Boy team member implied competitors were incentivized to post negative remarks about the game. More recently, some of MindsEye’s high-ranking officials have resigned from their positions, suggesting dwindling trust in the project prior to its upcoming launch.

Although MindsEye hasn’t turned out to be the most seamless launch, on the other hand, 007: First Light by IO Interactive is receiving praise for its debut at State of Play.
