NetEase Games and Joker Studio have officially unveiled their upcoming title, “Sea of Remnants“, a free, oceanic adventure RPG slated for release in 2026. This announcement was made at the recent PlayStation State of Play event, sparking anticipation among enthusiasts of open-world and role-playing game genres.
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Steam, iOS, and Android platforms, offering an expansive narrative-driven environment packed with decisions to make, oceanic combat, and unusual personalities.
Characters will assume the part of a ventriloquist’s doll resembling a sailor, who can’t recall their earlier life. As events unfold, you’ll voyage with an enigmatic girl across vast waters, investigating uncharted islands and the peculiar city of Orbtopia, which gradually discloses its hidden mysteries.
In the game named “Sea of Remnants“, players will encounter a blend of immediate (real-time) and delayed (turn-based) gameplay mechanics. During sea battles, you’ll navigate your ship and engage enemy fleets or monsters in real time. On the other hand, when you dock on islands, your crew and you will face turn-based combat scenarios.
As a player immersed in this epic gaming world, I’m constantly amazed by the vast array of over 300 unique characters I interact with. Each decision I make subtly alters the dynamics among factions and individuals, creating an ever-evolving narrative that keeps me on my toes.
In this game, you can assemble a group of allies known as “Puppetfolk,” each possessing distinct abilities. Crafting your vessel and honing your crew’s skills will be crucial for both overcoming combat challenges and navigating the complex political landscape within the game’s universe.
The emphasis is on making decisions that matter, as they’ll shape the course of events ahead. The layout of cities and the balance of power could change based on your actions during gameplay.
