Jessie J Says She ‘Needs a Hug’ After Announcing Breast Cancer Diagnosis: ‘Highlighting the Word Early’

Jessie J announced via an Instagram video on June 4 that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She shared that this diagnosis means she will need to take a break from her music and promotional activities following her performance on June 15, jokingly referring to the situation as a “very dramatic way to get a boob job.

The artist penned, “I’ve got no more secrets now, could a remix titled ‘Embracing My Journey’ be premature? Joking aside, it helps me cope during tough times. The past two months have been extraordinary, and experiencing this has given me an exceptional viewpoint. However, my dear friend, I could really use a comforting embrace.

Also not getting massive tits. Or am I? No no… I must stop joking.”

How Jessie J revealed cancer diagnosis

Jessie J revealed that she struggled with the decision to reveal it publicly, expressing, “I’ve been torn between whether to disclose it or not. I feel compelled to do so, but there are many external viewpoints to consider.

Discussing the sequence of events following her diagnosis, she mentioned, “Before the release of ‘No Secrets’, I was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. Emphasizing the word ‘early’ is important as it offers a glimmer of hope amidst the dread associated with cancer.” Additionally, she shared that at first, she found it difficult to accept and process the news, choosing to hide her feelings under her workload.

As a devoted follower, I feel compelled to share some personal news with you all. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been going through a series of tests, and I believe in being transparent with my fans who have always stood by me and shown unwavering love and support. So, here it is: After the Summertime Ball, I will be taking some time off to undergo surgery. I promise to return stronger than ever, with an enhanced appearance and more music to share with you all.
