Blizzard remembered that Heroes of the Storm was released ten years ago and celebrates with an event

Back in June 2, 2015, Blizzard Entertainment launched their MOBA game titled Heroes of the Storm. Coming into a scene where Dota 2, League of Legends, and Smite had already established themselves as leaders,

Regrettably, Blizzard didn’t fully utilize the game’s strong points; instead, they marketed Heroes of the Storm as a competitive game with an esports focus, which wasn’t its intended nature. This strategy proved unsuccessful, as many had anticipated at the time, and the game was essentially frozen in development. Although the servers are still active and it receives occasional balance adjustments, Blizzard’s ambitious MOBA project never truly reached its full potential.

It’s unfortunate because a unique game that might have appealed to casual players as an alternative to mainstream genres was Heroes of the Storm. With Microsoft owning the company, they could have potentially integrated characters like Master Chief, transforming the game into something akin to Super Smash Bros. for MOBAs.

The developer didn’t forget about the game’s tenth birthday: From now until June 15, 2025, all playable characters in the game can be accessed for free. Plus, every player who logs in will receive two brand-new portraits as a gift. Additionally, Blizzard has added a new skin to their shop.

Although it’s quite modest, it’s more than they anticipated from our gaming community – absolutely nothing.
