He’s Back Again! First Teaser for DEXTER: RESURRECTION

In a flashback, I recall a joke from an episode of Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, ages ago, about Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in a new show. Now, Michael C. Hall can be added to that list, since he’s bringing Dexter Morgan back for another series. The first trailer for Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: New Blood (both follow-ups to the 2006 series, Dexter), has been released on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. To put it simply, he’s back, and it seems he intends to stay that way.

Following another miraculous escape from death, this time orchestrated by his own son, Dexter has resurfaced in New York City, continuing his gruesome spree of killings. Intriguingly, he now seems to be part of an elite team of serial killers – a sort of murder-oriented Avengers group. Among the members are Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. As one might expect, Peter Dinklage assumes a role similar to Nick Fury, while Uma Thurman takes on a character reminiscent of Agent Coulson in this unique ensemble. Is the analogy fitting? Perhaps it can be seen that way.

In the continuation of “Dexter: Resurrection“, Dexter Morgan (Hall) recovers from a gunshot wound inflicted by his own son. Upon waking from a coma, he discovers Harrison (Jack Alcott) missing without a clue as to where he might be. Stricken with guilt over the harm he’s caused his son, Dexter embarks on a journey to New York City in search of him and to make amends. However, old acquaintances from Miami Metro, like Angel Batista (David Zayas), start asking questions that make Dexter realize his past is quickly catching up with him. As father and son grapple with their inner demons in the bustling city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves in over their heads and come to understand that the only way out is by standing together.

The show is set to start airing this coming Friday, July 11, with two initial episodes available on Paramount+ in combination with SHOWTIME. So, you might as well say, “It’s time for tonight’s premiere!
