Shocking Black Phone 2 Text Message Scares Everyone – Did You Get It Too?

On the weekend, numerous movie enthusiasts eagerly looked at their phones to find an ominous text message that seemed straight out of a horror film. The content of this mysterious communication read, “Hello [Your Name], the phone is ringing again. Will you answer it?” (In my case, “Hello Rotem, the phone is ringing again. Will you answer it?”) Following the threatening call, this text message attached an unsettling video with a monochrome cover image depicting three images of young boys. No additional information accompanied this video clip unless it was played. It’s important to mention that the text came from an ordinary phone number that yielded no results when searched online.

Was the message you received utterly chilling? Did it seem as though clicking play would unveil a gruesome video followed by a ghost informing you of your impending doom in seven days? Indeed, such was my experience. In a state of distress, I hurriedly swiped and erased the message. It appears that many of my colleagues did the same. Upon seeking solace online, I came to understand that this harrowing text evoked the sensation of a horror movie because it originated from one – yes, I had been haunted by a text message from what seems to be The Black Phone 2.

As a cinephile, I’ve just realized that the eerie messages from “The Black Phone 2” are indeed tied to the movie. Phrases like “The phone is ringing again,” and so on, were definitely a giveaway. However, my instincts for self-preservation, and those of my companions, were quite robust. My response to “Shall I answer?” was a firm no. In hindsight, I must admit that the text campaign for “The Black Phone 2” made me feel as if I was living a horror movie, which wasn’t exactly what I needed on a Friday night! Despite the impressive immersion of “The Black Phone,” I can’t help but wish that the follow-up message had come a bit earlier.

Fortunately, it arrived as expected, and the trailer and poster for “The Black Phone 2” were delivered to the same number that sent the initial message. For a brief moment, I was on edge, thinking a murderer might be watching me. However, it’s a relief that it was just a movie, not something truly terrifying like “The Black Phone” making a real phone call.
