It’s been six long years since we last watched detective Benoit Blanc on our screens, it’s hard to believe the time has passed so quickly. We knew Rian Johnson was planning a third installment in his series, which started with 2017’s Knives Out, for quite some time now, but it seems like forever. In the meantime, Johnson has introduced another intriguing detective character in the Peacock series Poker Face. However, we can’t wait to see more of Blanc! Daniel Craig embodies our ideal sleuth. Fortunately, during TUDUM 2025, Netflix has finally unveiled a teaser and announced a release date for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Immediately, it’s clear that this film, titled “Wake Up Dead Man,” appears to be a more somber and atmospheric production compared to its predecessors, such as “Glass Onion” which was quite whimsical. There’s a definite chill in the air, reminiscent of the autumnal mood in “Knives Out.” Fans of the Coen Brothers might notice the song “O Death” on the soundtrack, a track that was also featured in “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”. I must say, I’ve been eagerly anticipating some Southern Gothic vibes!
Typically for such films, the star-studded cast lineup resembles a Hollywood dream team. The movie features Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
The main issue seems to be that we have to wait quite a while before receiving it, specifically on December 12, 2025, which translates to 12/12/2025 in Roman numerals. If you’re not familiar with Roman numerals, let me clarify – this means December 12 of the current year if you’re feeling a bit naughty! I’ve always thought winter is ideal for melancholy, even without the Christmas cheer, and it appears my wish is about to come true!
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is out, as I literally just said, December 12.
