Mark Hamill Done With Star Wars: No More Luke Skywalker, Not Even as a Force Ghost

Mark Hamill has announced that he’s concluded his journey with Star Wars and will not reprise the role of Luke Skywalker again, including not appearing as a Force spirit in future instalments.

Indeed, the actor reprised his role as the beloved character in the Disney Star Wars Trilogy, sparking much debate. Even Hamill admitted it wasn’t his portrayal of Luke. However, he also appeared in the Boba Fett episode as a younger Luke, receiving enthusiastic applause from fans.

Via YouTube, Mark Hamill says that while he is thankful to George Lucas, his time as Luke is over.

George allowed me to be involved in something truly special back then, and I’ll always be thankful for that. It was a simpler time when George humorously referred to Star Wars as ‘the most expensive low-budget movie ever made.’ Mark Hamill recalls we never imagined it would turn into a lasting franchise and pop culture phenomenon. However, my stance is, I had my moment. I’m grateful for it, but I believe the focus should shift towards the new characters and the future.

Hamill mentions that he won’t reappear, and playfully remarks that he has no desire to show up as a bare Force Spirit once more, alluding to the incident in “The Last Jedi”.
