However, those in the know are countering by stating that this is just a standard aspect of post-production, and the studio is content with Gunn’s final product as delivered.
No Major Reshoots, But Changes Did Happen
Contrary to rumors of extensive reshooting, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that only three days of filming took place in Atlanta, which is significantly less than the suggested full reshoot. As per THR’s newsletter, alterations were indeed made, but they are said to be standard for a blockbuster movie fine-tuning its final edit.
The site also fires back against claims of changes with the composers:
In Atlanta, the film garnered a good start over a span of three days, without any significant re-takes. Initially, John Murphy composed the score, drawing inspiration from John Williams’ style and incorporating an electric guitar melody. Later on this year, David Fleming was hired as an additional composer. Both their compositions will be featured in the movie, along with numerous tones reminiscent of Williams’ work.
Gunn Testing and Tinkering
According to reports from the site, James Gunn is not hesitant when it comes to implementing modifications, and this is simply another step in the creative journey.
A few test viewings have taken place, and according to a source familiar with DC’s internal operations, “While I don’t support Gunn, this isn’t out of the ordinary.” They add, “It’s all about refining the film. Any movie goes through this process.
THR adds that Gunn is welcome to and isn’t afraid of feedback:
I’ve had the opportunity to share some insights about Gunn, and here’s what I can confirm: “He’s all about testing and tweaking his work, never one to shy away from feedback.” This director is remarkably open-minded and receptive to ideas, which makes collaborating with him a truly enjoyable experience.
Studio Appears Satisfied
Regardless of the chatter on social media, THR reports that the film will likely finalize its editing by the following Friday, five weeks before its premiere. This timeline is often a positive indicator.
According to studio insiders, Gunn will be submitting the final and set-in-stone version of the movie by next Friday. This comes five weeks ahead of its scheduled release on July 11, indicating the studio’s contentment with the progress.

In this production, David Corenswet assumes the role of Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan takes on the character of Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult portrays Lex Luthor in a supporting capacity. Additionally, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Anthony Carrigan, and others make up the rest of the talented ensemble.
