Helldivers 2’s Super President is dead and players think a coup is happening

It’s an action-packed and stormy period for playing Helldivers 2: The alien Illuminate have overrun Super Earth, leaving its protectors on the verge of collapse as they lose city after city. Yet, the selfless acts of courage displayed by the defenders of Super Earth’s New York City variant have granted the Helldivers a reprieve, enabling them to deploy more defensive weapons and intensify the damage inflicted upon the Illuminate.

After the city’s collapse, the surviving Helldivers focused their efforts on the planetary equivalent of Shanghai, which was under the control of Chinese players. With assistance from Western forces, they managed to repel the Illuminate, effectively freeing it and turning it into a brutal battleground for the invaders.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but recount the final moments before Equality-on-Sea and Prosperity City, Super Earth’s last bastions, crumbled under our relentless assault. The fleet was whittled down to nothing, yet not without dealing one final, poignant blow to Super Earth. It seems that in the defense of Prosperity City, the esteemed Super President met his untimely end. Officially, he was reported killed while safeguarding the presidential bunker.

Despite the Super President’s demise, there are suspicions brewing among the players: With no one else to fill the role, power has been transferred to the Ministry of Defense. Some Helldivers suspect that the President’s death was not related to the Illuminate and is instead a coup orchestrated by the Ministry of Defense, who took advantage of the invasion to conceal their own actions.

Let’s find out what Arrowhead has prepared following the attack on Super Earth, as it’s bound to be intriguing regardless – after all, haven’t the Helldivers demonstrated their worth to deserve a vote? In fact, some gamers are proposing potential presidential candidates, and given Helldivers 2’s satirical nature, allowing players to take part in Super Earth’s mock ‘democratic’ election could be a fitting extension of its themes.
