According to reports, the DCU’s Lanterns series is expanding its characters, with actress Laura Linney – famously recognized for her role in Ozark – potentially portraying Carol Ferris, a comic book character also known as Star Sapphire.

Laura Linney as Star Sapphire?
If it’s true that Laura Linney portrays Carol Ferris in “Lanterns,” it’s quite possible that she may have already acquired her Star Sapphire powers, representing love from the emotional spectrum (while green stands for willpower, yellow for fear, and red for rage). Similarly, Kyle Chandler plays an older Hal Jordan, which would parallel Linney with Ferris.
As a movie reviewer, I’d say: From my perspective, it seems that the character of Ferris, given her apparent age, might have been steeped in a rich backstory drawn from the Star Sapphire comics. In these source materials, Star Sapphire initially emerges as an antagonist. However, over time, Ferris manages to keep hold of the Star Sapphire ring and eventually aligns herself with Hal and other Green Lanterns, becoming a valuable ally in their cause.
It’s been noted that Kelly Macdonald’s character Sheriff Kerry might be romantic interest for Hal Jordan, played by Chandler. If true, this implies that Hal and Carol (presumably a different character) are estranged. Since both Carol and Kerry are said to appear in the series, it seems likely there will be tension among all three characters.
